Meribel has long since been a popular ski destination for Family Ski Holidays. The vast and varied ski area makes this resort a magnet for families as it will suit beginners right up to the advanced skier on a variety of world renowned perfectly pisted runs in what has to be one of the most famous ski area on the world, namely the Trois Vallee or Three Valleys.
Meribel is at the epicentre of the Three Valleys and has many excellent ski schools, including some British run schools which meet at the bottom of the main lift station - the Chaudanne. There’s a good nursery area here with inflatables for the smallest skiers. Progression is easy on the wide green slopes above the Altiport area which is easily reached from the Chaudanne. Meribel has good ski facilities for children and beginners. There’s a great wooded area with free drag lift and green runs which lead to and from the Rond Point which also has a nursery slope which is mainly used by ski schools and is another starting point for guests staying up in the upper part of Meribel Village.
Intermediate and advanced skiers will be in paradise here as the ski area is huge and has arguably some of the best runs to be found anywhere in the world.
Although Meribel is not the most convenient ski resort as far as getting to the skiing goes, it does have a large number of operators which offer childcare and hence also private minibus services to and from the lifts and ski schools.
The accommodation in Meribel is a mix of traditional chalets of all standards, hotels and apartment so there’s a huge choice for families at varying budgets.
Off the slopes there’s various activities suitable for families with the large Olympic centre in the centre of Meribel which houses a pool and ice rink as well as bowling and a climbing wall. There’s also a spa here too.... Read more
