Ski Holidays Andorra

Andorra can’t help but be a country for ski resorts as it’s a mainly mountainous state located between France and Spain. For its size Andorra packs a big punch as far as mountains are concerned with over 65 peaks over 2000m. Read more ...

It’s a tiny tax free Principality state of just 181 square miles, that’s about one third of the size of greater London. Surprisingly it’s only the 6th Smallest country in Europe (remember that for the pub quiz) with an estimated population of 85,000.

Andorra is a “proper” skiers’ Country, it has more kilometres of ski pistes than it does roads, 269km of roads in total of which only 198km have tarmac compared with 301km of piste, now that’s what we call a “proper Country!”

Don’t be thinking that Andorra is only for beginners or for skiers on a tight budget, 20 years ago you could have been right, but today Andorra has made lots of investments in ski lifts and snow cannons. If you have never tried the skiing in Andorra, it’s about time you did, or you will be another year older before you do.

Its capital city Andorra le Vella, is Europe’s highest capital city and is worth a visit on any none ski days for a spot of tax free shopping.

In recent years Andorra has lost its cheap and cheerful image as huge investment in ski lifts and snow making facilities has taken place and has upped its game to compete with the likes of Italy, Austria and France.

The ski runs and resorts are often deserted on all but weekends when locals head for the slopes too.

Skiing In Andorra

Pas de la Casa has to be the best place to ski if you are into your après – the skiing is an intermediates paradise as it’s linked with Soldeu too. Soldeu might not be the most attractive village but does boast a convenient location in the centre of the Grandvalira ski area. Beginner and intermediates will love the skiing here and we have plenty of hotels and self-catered apartments to choose from.

Arinsal and La Massana are the linked resorts of the Val Nord ski area with plenty of wooded slopes. Beginners will be most at home here and it’s a great place to learn to ski.
