Obergurgl has it all, high snow-sure slopes, fast modern lifts, no crowds, and a great tea time après ski scene. It’s fast becoming one of our most popular holiday destinations in Austria.
Obergurgl shares its skiing with Hochgurgl and now your lift ticket allows for a day in nearby Solden too. The local slopes offer 110km of wonderful slopes, and an additional 145km if you ski in Solden too.
The skiing is suitable for all levels, but is especially good for beginners, intermediate skiers and snowboarders. The on piste challenges for advanced skiers are a little limited but the lift served off piste is excellent and will delight all levels of off-piste skiers and snowboarders.
The key to the excellent snow record, is two-fold, the location at the head of the Otz valley means it receives more than its fair share of snow on its north and west facing slopes, also, at a remarkable village height of 1930m with the top skiing reaching an eye-watering 3080m the snow is good here from November to May. By Austrian standards this makes Obergurgl one of the highest ski resorts in Austria and well worth a visit, with glacial skiing too, we can’t think of a good reason not to shunt Obergurgl to the top of your ‘to ski’ list.
The “Top Express gondola” between Obergurgl and Hochgurgl enables skiers to cross the valley on the best quality snow without the need to ski to the valley floor.
The hotels in Obergurgl are all excellent, the resort built its reputation on the quality of its hotels, we also have several tour operator run chalets and chalet hotels which offer excellent value, some offer excellent childcare too and represent great value for money and are always a top seller....
