Why choose Les Crosets

  • Perfect for families with learning-age children and parents who like to cover the miles.
  • Gentle local slopes, ideal for total beginners learning to ski for the first time.
  • Ideal for skiers looking for a rustic ski village without noisy bars and nightclubs.
  • Well suited for weekend skiers looking to maximise time in a vast ski area.

Les Crosets is a perfect choice for families looking for quiet gentle sunny ski slopes where children can gain confidence and progress. At the same time, it’s a wonderful rustic village for experienced skiers looking for easy access to the popular Portes du Soleil area.

Les Crosets gives direct access, at a good altitude of 1,700m, to the whole region of 650km of pistes and much more off-piste. Avoriaz is 20 mins on skis, and you can ski to the Super Morzine in 50 minutes and Mont Chery on the far side of Les Gets in 1.5 hours. The slopes of Chatel and Morgin can also be reached and are a 40 minutes ski away.

Advanced skiers need only two lifts to reach the infamous ‘Swiss Wall’ (Le Mur de Chavanette) which is rated as one of Europe’s longest vertical drops and always features in lists of the world’s toughest ski runs.

The transfer time from Geneva Airport is about 1 hour 45mins which makes Les Crosets an excellent choice for short stays and weekend ski breaks. Ski Line can arrange for your ski passes to be waiting for you on your arrival.

Unfortunately, our ski hire partners, Ski Set don’t have a shop in Les Crosets, but our chalet Mountain Lodge has its own ski rental in-house. Perfect for those arriving on late flights as both your ski pass and ski will be ready, so you can make the first tracks on your first morning.

Our Chalet Mountain Lodge is our top recommendation in Les Crosets, ski in/ski out, pool, spa and a delicious menu. There are a variety of room types, some of which are ideal for family groups. What’s not to like?

Skiing in Les Crosets

Beginners skiing

Les Crosets is particularly well suited to beginners and families, with gentle, confidence-building slopes located close to the village. The local nursery areas and easy runs provide a relaxed environment for first-time skiers, while the sunny aspect helps keep conditions comfortable throughout the day.

Beginners can learn and progress locally without needing to ski far, while more confident skiers in the group have immediate access to the wider Portes du Soleil area.

Intermediate skiing

The whole of Porte du Soleil is available for skiers to enjoy. Les Crosets is home to several red runs and a few black runs for those intermediates who are feeling a bit more daring.

Advanced skiing

There is plenty of choice in Les Crosets and the surrounding areas of Planachaux and Champoussin for those you require more of a challenge. Black runs within the area will not disappoint and there is plenty of off-piste terrain. Also if you can’t keep your skis off the slopes, there is night skiing every Wednesday and Saturday night.

Après ski in Les Crosets

There are several bars and restaurants in the vicinity if you’re looking for a late night. One popular choice is heading up to Chez Yoyo et Jibi, an old alpine restaurant and bar, and at the end of the night you can ski your way back home – that is if you aren’t too full from the drinks and hearty food!

Activities off the slopes in Les Crosets

If you want to take a break from skiing or if it is entirely not your thing, there are plenty of other activities to partake in. You can rest your weary bones at the Val d’Illiez Thermal Spa or relax to the sound of the natural waterfall and thermal river. Enjoy a variety of cuisine at local restaurants in the area such as Restaurants Le Toupin or Le Ralais Panoramique.

If you are looking for something a little bit more thrilling, you can go paragliding – a great choice of activity for groups or company outings.
