Livigno lies on the Italian border close to Switzerland and has a reputation for excellent snow, long winters and duty-free shopping. In years gone by, Livigno gained tax-free status as the tax man could only collect taxes in the summer months, If only it was the same today! This makes Livigno unusual for a snow sure, high altitude ski resort that good value too!
The village itself is spread along a 4km valley floor with 3 major lift points in the extremities extending up either side of the valley, so its possible to enjoy ski convenience even if you are not staying in or near the main heart of the village. A free bus connects all the lifts.
The ski range is between 1820m and 2797m and covers 155km of piste plus some off-piste now! Most of the skiing is above 2500m. The lifts are modern and fast and queues are rarely an issue.
The skiing here is suitable for all levels, beginners have excellent nursery slopes and the progression slopes are excellent. Lower level intermediate skiers and cruisers will love it here too, but skiers who like to clock up miles may prefer to go else were.
