Why Slovenia?

Slovenia is a new destination for the British ski market. Although there are around 30 different ski resorts in the Julian Alps in Slovenia, many wouldn’t appeal to the international market as they have slow lifts, unreliable snowmaking and small ski areas compared to the Alps. However, for beginners, Slovenia is an ideal choice.

We have chosen Kranjska Gora, which is the best ski resort in Slovenia to be our first resort in this exciting new destination. It offers value for money that appeals to beginners especially. A learn to ski package is available from just £153 for adults and £132 for children, this includes a ski pass valid for 3 days, (the first days are spent on nursery slopes where lift passes are not required) and 6 days ski equipment rental. The ski schools offer excellent tuition and English is widely spoken.

Most Slovenians go skiing at the weekends only, meaning the slopes are often deserted mid-week, which is a big draw for beginners or anyone who prefers empty slopes.

The winters are shorter than in the Alps as most resorts are below 2000m. We offer skiing holidays to Slovenia between December and mid to late March.

Direct flights are available from the UK via Ljubljana, ideal for short breaks, we also offer charter flights for week-long stays from the UK to Zagreb 2.5 hours, Klagenfurt 1 hour or via Salzburg 3 hours.

Ideal Resorts

Families

Slovenia is a popular choice with families wanting to learn to ski and who have limited budgets for trying out skiing or snowboarding for the first time. The ski passes are good value compared to Alpine resorts in France or Austria and the ski schools have an excellent reputation. Most speak fluent English. Kranjska Gora’s size appeals to families, with just 18 runs covering 20km of pistes, this is a good area to allow older children to ski without the watchful eye of their parents on predominantly gentle blue runs.

Beginners

Slovenia is a good resort to learn to ski, without blowing the budget.

Intermediate

Intermediate skiers and snowboarders won’t be disappointed with the skiing available in Slovenia, but the extent of slopes will be very limited for the piste hungry skier.

Expert

Don’t bother, Slovenia won’t have anything that will challenge you.
