Soldeu is, we believe the best base for a skiing holiday in Andorra, not because its an attractive village necessarily, but because of its central location in the Grandvalira ski area.
The village height is 1800m with a ski range of between 1710m to 2560m and offers a total of 210km of pistes. This means that there are more kilometres of pistes than Andorra has tarmacked roads, so its credentials as a proper skier’s country are assured!
Soldeu sits in a central position between El-Tarter and the link to Pas de la Casa at Grau Riog.
The skiing best suits beginners and intermediate skiers, advanced skiers will always be keeping their fingers crossed for fresh snow, as it off-piste skiing is very good here, but only after a good dump of snow.
The lift system is good, lots of fast modern chairs and gondolas but there are a few slower lifts, that with planning can be avoided.
The snow reliability is good, the slopes mainly face north so despite its name, Soldeu, which means Sun God, the snow holds well and the snowmaking facilities are very good.
