Les Gets Wants People to Dye the Slopes!
28th January 2015
The popular family ski resort of Les Gets in the Portes du Soleil has adapted the popular US colour run to the slopes of the Mont Cherry Mountain which will take place on the 31st January 2015.
The Colour run events have been held at various major cities across the USA including Boston, New York but it’s now being held in UK cities too, including Brighton, London, Birmingham and Manchester.
The idea is set up exploding coloured powder dye zones on the slopes that skiers ski through, the winner isn’t the person who gets to the bottom first but rather the person with the most colour!
Each contestant will be given a white protective suit to protect their ski clothing.
Les Gets is an Eco resort, they have pointed out the dye used is totally natural and mountain friendly.
Les Get is a popular resort with British families, it’s connected to the massive Portes du Soleil ski area which is Europe’s largest internationally connected ski area and includes the ski resorts of Morzine, Chatel, Avoriaz and Les Gets on the French side. The Swiss side includes several smaller resorts such as Champery and Morgins.
Les Gets is a sunny attractive village with a wide selection of traditional chalets and smaller family run hotel. One of the big reasons for choosing Les Gets is the Mont Cherry Mountain where this event will be stage. Mont Cherry isn’t linked by lifts to the main ski area, consequently this small mountain is never busy, even during peak weeks of the February half term. Despite its small size, the skiing is very good with a terrain park with kickers. For expert skiers the black runs off the back are seriously steep and the lack of visitors means the off piste skiing is normally very good.
