Aspen Skiing Co buys Mammoth Mountain, Steamboat and Winter Park
It was announced earlier this week that the Aspen Skiing company who operate the four mountains in Aspen and their new partners KSL Capital, a private equity company scooped the deal to outflank Vail Resorts and give some competition to Vails Epic Ski Pass with its own Season Pass which is expected to cover all Aspen controlled ski resorts.
The deal worth more than $1.5 billion could see Aspen offer up a rival to its mighty competitor Vail Resorts who sold 650,000 Epic Ski passes last season, the volume is expected to increase further when figures are released for the 2017/ 18 ski season.
Holders of an Epic pass can ski in any of the Vail Resorts which included Whistler and Blackcomb for the first time this year. The Epic ski pass allows unlimited access to the best ski resorts in the US and Canada and even covers some of Europes most iconic ski resorts ski resorts in the Three Valleys, Espace Killy, Paradise ski area of Les Arcs and La Plagne, St Anton in Austria and the Dolomites in Italy all for around $849. With this kind of revenue being generated, its little wonders other ski resorts want a piece of the pie.
