Music festivals have become an increasingly popular feature of ski holidays, particularly towards the end of the season.
What were once destinations known primarily for snow sports have evolved into gathering places for music fans of all genres. The majority of events are free to enter or free to anyone who has a resort lift pass.
The combination of indoor and outdoor venues, plus breathtaking mountain backdrops, has made ski resorts a natural home for music events both large and small.
Here is a rundown of some of the music festivals taking place during the remainder of the season.
Tignes – France
Mountain Shaker. 14–21 March
In Tignes, Mountain Shaker involves DJs and live music in bars, on terraces, and other open-air locations throughout the resort. The festival adds a party atmosphere to spring skiing when the village holds a week-long celebration both on and off the slopes.

Portes Du Soleil – France & Switzerland
Rock the Pistes Festival. 15–21 March
Rock the Pistes once again turns the slopes into open-air stages. Skiers and snowboarders can ride lifts by day and then attend free concerts on the mountain from Morzine to Avoriaz. There will be a blend rock, pop, and global sounds.
