The slopeside Radisson Blu in Trysil does Scandi winter hols like no other – a hit with skiers of all stripes. Sitting slap-bang on a green run, even total newbies will be able to slide right up to the door once the basics are nailed down. And with the lifts and ski school just a snowball’s throw away, everything is geared towards making the slopes easily accessible.

Kick off the day with a big buffet spread in the Hill restaurant – which is also where your evening meals are taken if you’ve gone for the half board upgrade. Otherwise, you can pay a little extra to head to La Piazza for proper thin-crust pizzas, or munch on burgers and fries at the retro American diner Chill Bowl & Dine as you see who can get the most strikes. Just want a drink? Take your pick from three bars – the pool bar, lobby bar and Mt. Mocca coffee shop, where you can enjoy a pick-me-up on the sun terrace.

After skiing your fill for the day, your après choices are top-notch. The pool area has something for everyone – swim laps in the main pool, splash around with the little ones in the kids’ section, or scale the glass climbing wall over the deep pool. You can even give surfing a go in Norway’s only FlowRider wave pool. Or if you’re after pure relaxation, for a little extra you can spend some time in the spa’s sauna, steam room and hot tub.
