Kuhtai is where the Channel 4 ski programme “The Jump” was filmed. The filmmakers chose Kuhtai because they needed the snow to be guaranteed. When a ski resort is located at 2020m as Kuhtai is, you can safely be assured that the snow will be excellent.
Kuhtai is located 35km from Innsbruck, making it one of the closest ski resorts to an international airport, ideal for families, or anyone wanting to avoid longer coach transfers.
Kuhtai is Austria’s highest ski resort, and its located high between the Otzal and the Stubai mountain range, in a valley known to hold good snow.
The ski range is between 1507m and 2650m, the skiing is in two separate areas; Kuhtai which offers 44km of easy to navigate skiing and Hochotz, a 15-minute free ski bus journey away, increases the skiing area to 85km. The slopes face South and North, meaning even in the spring, the slopes will retain good snow. There are 2 gondolas, I cable car, 1 chairlift and 10 drag lifts.
The skiing in Kuhtai is suitable for all levels, with 20km of blue runs, 52km of red and 13km of black runs. We particularly recommend Kuhtai to families with children of an age that they want to start exploring the slopes on their own. Its impossible to get lost here as all the slopes lead back to the village. Lift queues are never a problem, even on the busy high season dates. You will like the lift pass costs with adult 6 day passes starting at around £134 and a child pass costing from £67!
We would not recommend Kuhtai for skiers who like to clock up the miles, Kuhtai will be too small for you. Skiers who don’t mind doing the same run twice and wanting a high, quiet and convenient ski resort will enjoy Kuhtai.
All of the hotels in Kuhtai are ski in ski out. The après ski is good with several bars having live music and the nightclub, Kaos, stays open until very late.... Read more
