Ski Holidays in Schladming

Schladming is probably one of Austria's most underrated ski areas, it lies within the attractive and wooded Dachstein Mountain region and four linked mountains provide the main ski area which includes 123km of piste. The wider Schladming Dachstein region also connects to a number of smaller areas, including the Dachstein Glacier - so there is always the security of skiing on the glacier, even late in the season.

We currently aren’t showing any package holidays to Schladming. However, our Schladming tailor-made holidays are ideal for groups of 4 or more. You choose the flights; we arrange everything else. Call us on 020 8313 3999.

Why Ski in Schladming?

The popular holiday region of Schladming-Dachstein is in the north-west of Steiermark and offers fascinating views of the mountain panorama of the ski area Ski amadé.

Schladming hosted the World Ski Championships in 2013 and invested significantly in new ski lifts, this means that queues are now short and faster lifts give you more time for the downhills. Many of the new lifts have heated seats, which is great for skiers in the colder months.

The upgrades in the lift system are continuing with a new 10-seater gondola (for the 2020 winter) which replaced the slow old six-seater lift on the Planai ski area and increased capacity by 70%.

Beginner Skiing In Schladming

The Robmoos nursery area is a good place to learn to ski, and where the ski schools start most beginners. Some of the lifts here are free, which avoids the need to purchase a ski pass on day one.

Intermediate Skiing In Schladming

Schladming has a high percentage of red runs, so is ideally suited to intermediates. Many of the skiing is tree-lined, so this is great if the weather closes in.

Advanced Skiing In Schladming

Advanced skiers will find plenty of runs to keep them smiling too, particularly popular is the challenging downhill men’s World Cup night slalom.

Update

6th Jan 2020

Schladming-Dachstein in Austria’s Styria has replaced the old six-seater lift on the Planai ski area with a new 10-seater gondola.

Après ski in Schladming

The large, mountain town of Schladming dates back to medieval times, with a mix of the old and new buildings that reflect its history. The attractive church, the old town gate and the 300-year-old Hotel Kirchenwirt are fabulous and in contrast, more modern buildings have been developed in recent years across town, such as the congress centre, some lift stations and many new hotels. The pedestrianised centre of town is a great spot to do a bit of shopping or maybe a good venue to start from a number of après bars for night time entertainment.

The nightlife is a little more laid back but there is plenty going on. Hohenhaus Tenne, next to the Planai base station, is one of the most popular spots for an après drink, and later on, it transforms into a bustling nightclub. There’s a lot more choice in town too in various bars.
