Music in the mountains has become a major attraction at many resorts, with several hosting opening and closing concerts headlined by world-renowned artists.
Some performances are held indoors, while the majority take place in outdoor arenas against a stunning backdrop of snow-covered mountains, which helps create a unique and unforgettable atmosphere.
I have been to several of these concerts, but two of the most memorable were when I saw Robbie Williams perform in the Austrian resort of Ischgl, and Status Quo play high up in the mountains of Samnaun in Switzerland.
The Schladming-Dachstein region in Austria has, in the past, attracted top artists from the world of music such as Bryan Adams, Sting and Simply Red to entertain the crowds at its winter opening concert.
This season, the area has secured a real coup by announcing that legendary boy band Backstreet Boys will be taking to the stage at the Planai Stadium as part of their reunion tour.
With over 130 million records sold, the Backstreet Boys remain one of the most successful pop groups in music history.
The bad news is that the chance to see the chart-topping band perform again means that the original concert date of 6 December has already sold out!
The good news is, as a result, Backstreet Boys will now also be playing the following day on Sunday, 7 December. However, if you want to secure a place you will need to be quick as tickets for this extra concert are already selling fast.
