Also known as BKK, Bad Kleinkirchheim is where Austria’s ski legend Franz Klammer learnt to ski and they appropriately named a World cup downhill run in his honour.
BKK is located in the SE area in Carinthia, close to the Slovenian /Italian borders, just 50 minutes from Klagenfurt (KLU) or 90 minutes from Ljubljana airport (LJU).
The spa town is spread along the base of the valley, with no clear centre and the buildings are mainly chalet-styled hotel buildings.
The ski resort is located at 1090m with a ski range between 1090m to 2055m. 3 gondolas and one chair are all fast, although some of the slower T-bar lifts can’t be avoided we don’t believe these will affect your enjoyment of this resort too much. The snow record is good as many of the best runs are north facing. South facing slopes have good artificial snowmaking facilities.
This is a ski area for intermediates, some of the runs offer over 1000m vertical. Beginners have a good nursery slope, but apart from a very long blue, the progression slopes are limited. Experts will enjoy the Franz Klammer run and the off-piste skiing which offers varying pitches.
We offer a limited choice of the best hotels in BKK, for more information please call our holiday advisors.
