Ski Holidays in Breckenridge

Breckenridge has been a big name in US skiing for decades. It’s an old gold mining town, like so many ski resorts in the USA.

The attractive Victorian main street is lined by old wooden clapboard buildings which gives Breckenridge a feeling of its historic past. Small shopping malls and some more modern buildings seem to blend well.

Breckenridge mountain is owned by the same company that owns Vail, Beaver Creek and Keystone and a pass that covers all is available, but make sure you book it in advance, buy it on arrival and you pay over the odds. We certainly recommend visiting these other ski resorts during your stay.

The skiing is suitable for all levels, but care should be taken on the first few days to avoid the higher slopes. Altitude sickness can be an issue for some as the village is located at 2925m and the top slopes at 3915m. This is also a blessing, the combination of height and distance from the moist sea air produces some of the best snow you will ever ski on.

The lift system is very good, fast and without queues, weekends are busier, particularly after heavy snowfall, when locals from Denver arrive.

The nightlife in Breckenridge, is better than most American ski resorts, the village centre is packed with skiers visiting the 100+ restaurants and bars. With Christmas styled lighting, it’s very attractive.
