What is an £88 ski holiday really like?
22nd August 2016
Imagine if you could buy a French 7-night skiing holiday for just £88 per person, now imagine you got a free ski pass worth €168 thrown into the deal. Would you book it? I certainly did, and do you know what? I was seriously impressed.
Our apartments in the French ski resort of Chamrousse are offering (some) ski in ski out self-catered apartments starting at just £88 per person and it really does include a Free 6-day ski pass! We act as agent for a German tour operator to bring you these great deals.
This £88 pp offer is based on the 10th December with 4 people sharing a one-bedroom apartment with twin beds in the bedroom and either sofa beds in the lounge or bunk beds in an alcove and yes that £88 includes a lift pass worth £137! (based on the current exchange rate as of 18th August 2016).
However, it’s not just the off-peak dates that are cheap! the prices are cheap all year round. That same deal over the normally expensive half term week is just £305pp and again includes a free ski pass! Over the Easter school holiday, weeks prices start from just £165pp so with a free ski pass worth around £137, that equates to just £28pp for the apartment!
Is this a case of ‘It sounds too good to be TRUE!’? No – this really isn’t some nasty online con, it’s a real ski deal that you could be booking right now.
We went to Chamrousse to check it out.
If I’m honest the luxury ski holiday has more appeal to me these days than a cheap skiing holiday, but I was very impressed, both with the skiing in Chamrousse and the accommodation. I can see this skiing holiday will appeal to skiers on a budget.
Chamrousse is a former Olympic ski resort, it’s where Jean Claude Killy won a record-breaking 3 golds for France in the 1968 winter games. So it’s a ski resort with a real skiing pedigree. I think for a weeks skiing for the average British skier 90 km is almost enough. It’s not the 3 Valleys, but then you won’t get a £88 ski holiday in Courchevel, in fact, you might not even get lunch for £88 in Courchevel!
The accommodation is mostly ski in/ski out or within walking distance!
The accommodation is called Le Domaine de l’Arselle, with the apartments located within 50m to 600m from the piste at Chamrousse 1700. Most of our clients tend to have been allocated apartments within 100m of the piste. But we can’t guarantee where your apartment will be.
The apartments modern and simply styled with all having a living/sleeping area, some with separate bedrooms and in some cases a sleeping alcove. They also offer a fully equipped kitchenette with hob, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and coffee machine, as well as a bath or shower/wc. Almost all apartments have a balcony or terrace. There isn’t an oven!
The apartments vary in Size from the smallest one bedroom 26sqm to 30 sqm sleeping 4 up to the largest (67 Sqm.) apartment sleeping up to 10 in two bedrooms + 2 x Alcoves containing 2 sets of bunk beds and a double sofa bed in the lounge area.
You have free access to the shared heated swimming pool and sauna and there also is a shared hot tub to soak your tired mussels.
