St Anton new Ski lift
13th November 2015
The St Anton tourist office is refusing to confirm (yet) that plans are afoot to install a new ski lift from Rauz to Zurs, from Zurs to Stuben and from Stuben back to Rauz. I hear that the project has been given the green light and will be completed within two years.
This is something that we have been waiting to happen for many years and means that the connections will no longer require a bus between Zurs, Lech and Warth, great news for devotes of this ski area for their ski holidays in St Anton.
The St Anton ski area has seem massive investment in lift infrastructure in recent years including one of the most over engineered lifts we have ever seen the fantastic Galzigbahn. Not so long ago lift queues in St Anton were a real problem in peak weeks, not so now.
St Anton is a Mecca for advanced and strong intermediate skiers and is one of Austria’s best known ski resorts with a ski range from between 1075m to 2660m. The ski area claims 340km of piste, which by Austrian standards makes it one of the largest single area ski terrains in Austria.
St Anton’s holiday accommodation is improving too, many new ski chalets in St Anton have been completed in recent years and this is now one of the popular holidays for British skiers looking for a ski holiday in St Anton. The choices of first class hotels is excellent many offering state of the art spas in an effort to attract more female skiers to the area.
Some of the UK’s best loved tour operators are looking for hotels that they can run as chalet hotels, such as the Chalet Hotel Christoph in St Christoph which has proved to be popular with clients seeking better value for money that is available when staying in St Anton or Lech.
