What's all the fuss about Bulgarian Ski Holidays?Calling all on a budget. That means young couples and families with mortgages and bills to pay, beginners looking for their first foray on the snow, students, retirees, or just the plain skint!

Skiing in Bulgaria is THE best value in Europe by far!

For anyone on a budget (or not – perhaps you are just plain tight!) If you are on a budget, it really does make sense to make a fuss about the skiing in Bulgaria as you won’t get a better deal elsewhere.

Where to begin?!

Okay, so one of the most expensive parts of your ski holiday is your accommodation, flights and transfers. On average a ski trip to Bulgaria is up to 50% cheaper than other alternative ski resorts in France Italy Austria and Andorra.

If you pick your date right you can be in a 4* half board hotel with a pool, flights and transfers included for as little as £370pp, who knew?!

Of course, B&B and self-catering come in at even better prices so it’s a complete no brainer.

I have no idea why well-meaning friends steer their beginner friends towards the large highly expensive resorts in the French Alps, Beginners don’t need miles of kilometres of skiing, they don’t need the latest swanky skis, they certainly don’t need to pay a lot of tuition and they certainly don’t need to pay a fortune on the slopes for lunches and drinks.

If you are a beginner and go to a large swanky resort France, you are absolutely crazy! See this table below for a comparison of local prices.

Bulgaria (Bansko) France (La Plagne)

Ski Pack just equipment and lift pass 189 321.5

Beginners ski pack (lift pass equipment hire and lessons) 173 – (low season), 188 – (high season) 503.5

Bulgaria can work for you for all sorts of reasons.

Low deposits of just £70pp make even the start of booking your holiday low cost, deposits for other destinations are usually at least double this amount.

Free child places on certain dates when sharing with 2 adults in a room.

A multitude of different regional airports to choose from including Gatwick. Stanstead, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol, East Midlands, Heathrow, Doncaster Sheffield, Edinburgh, Southend, Luton and Belfast.

If this is your first time on the snow you need to know if you are going to actually like it before you splash out on the latest ski gear and equipment and you need to be able to make that decision in a lovely friendly resort that’s light on the pocket.

Here’s the low down on each resort so that you can choose the one that best for you.
