Val Thorens- new €14m Gondola and new balcony route blue ski run
Val Thorens tipped the scales in their favour to win the “World Ski Award for best French ski resort” with the announcement of a new lift costing €14m and a new blue piste to sweep along the top of the resort affording spectacular views over the village.
The new, heated 10-seater gondola will replace the Moraine chair, which was especially popular with beginners as it gave access to longer greens and good progression slopes.

Val Thorens will also open a fourth new blue run in the Plein Sud sector, which descend to the top of the resort via a ‘balcony route’ overlooking Val Thorens village. This new run is expected to be very popular towards the end of the day with skiers returning from the 3 Vallées, the new ski run will make it easy for skiers to get back to the top of the resort.
Val Thorens will open for the 2017-18 ski season on 18 November 2017 and isn’t expected to close until early May. This year’s Ski Line’s “End of season ski trip will be held in Val Thorens on the 15th of April.
