Every year there are always a few weeks throughout the ski season that are far more popular than the rest of the season. These dates are Christmas, New Year, Half Term and Easter.
These peak dates always coincide with the UK school holiday dates which is why they’re such a popular choice for families with children.
If you don’t have children and are not a schoolteacher we’d recommend looking for alternative weeks to take your ski holiday as they will be less busy and will save you hundreds of pounds per person.
This year we are anticipating the February Half term week to be even busier than usual as it also clashes with the Paris, Créteil, Montpellier, Toulouse and Versailles school holiday dates which is a very popular date for the French to go skiing, especially those in and around Paris.
To counter this you could opt to book one of the 2 Easter weeks for 2024. On average a holiday during the 1st Easter school holiday week costs around 25% less than the February Half-Term and the 2nd Easter week costs around 39% less. So if you’re looking to save some money on your family ski holiday for 2024 one of the two Easter weeks would be a great option.
Easter generally falls towards the end of March/April and a question we’re often asked is ‘will there be any snow so late in the season?’. Year after year we’ve seen fantastic snowfall around the Easter period, with this year being no exception. For example, at the time of writing (29/03/2023) Val d’Isere currently has powder conditions with an upper piste depth of 453cm and a lower piste depth of 189cm which is fantastic. Historically, mid-April is also one of the Ski Line team’s favourite times to ski.
