Finland Ski Resort Guide
Finland/Lapland has been getting more popular amongst the British market in recent years especially for beginner and intermediate skiers of those with families. The thing is – the mountain may not have the vertical but they do have uncrowded gentle slopes and plenty to do when you’re not skiing. You need to pick the right time to go though as temperatures vary wildly between -1 down to -30 (don’t worry you can hire extra thermal clothing in resort) and daylight times are key – as December has as little as 5 daylight hours which gradually increase over the winter months to march April time when you’ll get up to 15 hours a day.
The possibilities for other activities are so varied that this country gives excellent choices for those looking for a little more than just a ski holiday experience.
Have you ever fancied watching the Northern lights from a glass-topped igloo or a snowmobile safari? Have you ever been on a husky or large dog sled ride? How about a reindeer safari? And of course if you go in late November or early December you can’t miss the obligatory trip to see the real home of the real Santa!
