We can never make up our mind which is the best ski resort in North America, but Whistler has to be in the top two and on many USA or Canadian skiers favourite lists. It’s North America’s biggest ski area covering 8171 acres and 200+ ski runs. The longest run is 11km and the addition several years ago of the Peak to Peak gondola connected the two mountains of Whistler and Blackcomb perfectly. There are glaciers, bowls and a good choice of mountain restaurants. There are also lots of options for heli-skiing in Whistler.
We have to talk about snow when discussing Whistler, on average they have nearly 12m of snow per annum, that’s nearly 40 feet in old money! The lack of snow when Whistler hosted the Olympics, has not happened since!
The skiing in Whistler is suitable for every level, for experts it’s hard to think of anywhere better. For intermediates, the extensive terrain will mean you will want to return. For beginners, both mountains have perfect nursery slopes but there are no free lifts.
For snowboarders Whistler is one of the best places anywhere to board, the only T-bars lifts are on the glacier.
If you have had Whistler on your “to ski list” isn’t it time you ticked it off? Lots of our clients add on a city break in Vancouver either at the beginning or end of their holiday.
We have a good choice of the best hotels and condos in both Whistler village or Blackcomb, call us if you need help.
Top tip, try and avoid the peak weeks, lift queues can be an issue at busy times.... Read more
