Why choose Sälen Lindvallen

Sälen Lindvallen makes for a very easy week of skiing, albeit a little more commercial and pricey than other Swedish ski resorts. It has several base areas, a huge range of accommodation, children’s zones, ski schools, restaurants, shops and Experium.

Skiing in Sälen Lindvallen

Sälen Lindvallen’s skiing is excellent for people learning. The pistes are broad and beautifully manageable, so beginners can progress without being frightened every few metres. Gustavbacken is a lovely cruising run, and the modern lift network shifts plenty of people. The terrain is gentle and the runs are short. Popular pistes like Gustav can get busy in the Scandinavian school holidays, too.

If you are a stronger skier who finds themselves in Lindvallen your Sälen SkiPass isn’t limited to the local slopes, so take a hop onto the ski bus to Högfjället, Tandådalen and Hundfjället, for a bit of a more challenge.

Ski accommodation in Sälen Lindvallen

We offer the SkiStar Lodge Lindvallen Apartments. The apartments are light, modern and comfortable, but the real luxury is convenience as you’re genuinely ski-in/ski-out, slopes and lifts just outside and ski hire about 100 metres away.

You’re also right at Experiumtorget, arguably the best address in Sälen if you want plenty to do beyond skiing, with Experium and its pools, spa, bowling and restaurants next door (more on that below).

The apartments have their own kitchens and self-catering is easy. There’s a grocery at the Lodge complex and the larger ICA Supermarket Lindvallen for a proper stock-up.

Lindvallen also has the widest choice of restaurants of the four Swedish resorts we offer.

Après ski in Sälen Lindvallen

Sälen Lindvallen has the broadest evening scene of our four Swedish resorts, with several restaurants, bars and après spots rather than one room everyone piles into. Gustav Grill & Bar is a safe bet for dinner, and Viktors is the one for adults wanting a proper meal.

Activities off the slopes in Salen Lindvallen

Sälen Lindvallen is the Swedish resort we’d choose for a complete family winter holiday, starting at Experium, right next to our apartments.

It houses a proper adventure pool with slides and indoor surfing, a spa and Sauna World, a gym and bowling. Children don’t necessarily want to ski first lift to last for six days straight, and here they don’t have to.

Venture outside of Sälen Lindvallen too, because this is where a Swedish holiday earns its air miles over another week in the Alps.

Dog sledding through the snow around Sälen isn’t cheap, but for children especially it can become the memory of the whole trip.

There are snowmobile safaris out through the forests, and cross-country skiing, the thing Swedes were doing long before the downhill kind, is unusually easy here because the trails run right beside the Lodge. You don’t need to be an athlete, just hire the kit, follow the instructor.

Snowshoeing is the gentler option again if you’d rather explore the forest on foot.
