Selva and its satellite village of Ortisei is the biggest name in the Italian Dolomites it deserves its reputation as a world-class ski resort. The resorts are based at 1563m with a ski range between 1440m and 3342m. The local area of Val Gardena covers 175km, in the full area of the Superski area there is an incredible 1220km.
Selva is the bigger of the two resorts, it’s a roadside town, the small village of Ortisei is very much more laid back, it has 3 toboggan runs, one is over 6km long, which could appeal to families.
This area is blessed as one of the most scenic ski resorts anywhere, especially at sunset as the mountains turn pink. The skiing in Selva and Ortisei is suitable for all levels of skiers, it’s a paradise for intermediate skiers with an unbelievable quantity of fast cruising skiing on the doorstep. Beginners love the excellent nursery slopes in Selva.
