Selva Ski Resort Guide

Why Ski in Selva?

The resort of Selva (AKA Val Gardena) is set in the Sella Ronda in a perfect position to take advantage of this impressive ski area and is one of Italy’s most popular set within splendid views of the Dolomites. The area offers good value for money in both bars, restaurants and hotels

The circular tour of the Sella Ronda can easily be covered in a day by even lower level intermediates and if you don’t deviate from the main route it can be done in 3 hours if you push yourself and lift queues don’t cause any delays. The circuit includes Corvara, Arabba, Canazei and Selva.

The village of Selva is located at 1565m with a ski range of between 1005m to 2520 m and remains one of our favourites in this area in which to be based because the local slopes have long wooded runs back to the village. The local pass covers 175 km of piste with 30% blue, 60% red and 10% black and covers skiing in Selva and Alpe Di Siusi only , but upgrading to the full pass opens up over 433 km and cover 179 lifts and allows you to take on the Sella Ronda circular tour

Ski Line offers all of the best hotels which range from 4* to 3* mainly all Half Board, a small selection of apartments and a limited selection of fully catered chalets, sleeping between 9 to 14 persons. For chalets, we strongly recommend early booking, as chalets in Italy are very limited and demand is high.

Selva was in days gone by, part of Austria and the village still retains a Tyrolean charm with attractive church and buildings.

We continually get great feed back from Clients about the mountain restaurants here, many say the food is excellent and great value compared to other well known ski areas.

Beginners skiing in Selva

The village nursery slopes are excellent, convenient, and safe, and normally kept in tip top conditions for beginners to master the basics, but for the best progression slopes you would be better taking a bus to Alpes Di Siusi.

Intermedates skiing in Selva

There is plenty for all levels of intermediate skiers in Selva even some of the black’s wont cause concerns for better intermediates. We recommend taking the full area pass and doing the circuit around the Sella Ronda, this should keep you busy all week long.

Advanced skiing in Selva

The runs you are most likely to enjoy will be the race runs which offer fast decents, that are always kept in best conditions for the Italian ski teams, but can be closed on some days for practices. The off piste skiing is limited in Selva but by taking the full area pass there are some great sections that will thrill.

Après ski in Selva

As the lifts start to close the mountain restaurants get busy with many playing music to help entice you in, some even with live bands. Later on the streets can be quieter but serveral bars will have DJ’s playing until around 1:00 am. The main night Club in Selva is Dali which plays dance music until early in the morning and tends to attract a younger crowd.

Activities off the slopes in Selva

There is a good sports centre but you can also try snow shoeing, Tobogganing and bowling.
