Why Ski in Les Gets?
The ski resort of Les Gets is located within the massive Portes du Soleil ski circuit which covers 650 km of internationally linked pistes between France and across the Swiss boarder and includes popular ski resorts such as Morzine, Avoriaz and Chatel on the French side and on the Swiss side Champery, Champoussin and Morgins.
Les Gets has built a strong reputation as a good family ski resort and Ski Line offers a good number of chalets, some offering childcare as well as many hotels and a limited number of apartments for those who prefer self catered ski holidays.
Les Get is located on the back of Morzine so the local pass covers a good number of runs and saves you a good sum on the full Portes du Soleil ski pass which makes a lot of sense for many visitors staying here.
On the opposite side of the valley from Morzine is a small ski area called Mont Cherry which even on busy peak weeks is surprisingly empty and offers great views of the village below and to Mont Blanc in the distance.
Another advantage is that the transfer time from Geneva is only one hour which adds to it’s popularity with families.
The main road to Les Gets, on its way to Morzine, bypasses the main village centre which has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
Early booking is essential if you want to get the best accommodation in Les Get especially on peak dates.

Beginners skiing in Les Gets
There is a good nursery slope in the village and a bigger area with 4 free lifts located at Chhavannes higher up the mountain which is ideal for learning the basics of skiing and snowboarding, Les Gets has some great ski schools.
Intermediates skiing in Les Gets
If you like to clock up the miles you may prefer to head for the larger area and take the full area pass, but the reds between Les Gets and Morzine and on Mont Chery are a delight.
Advanced skiing in Les Gets
The black runs at the back of Mont Cherry are steep and often with bumps and the off piste skiing much of which is wooded is excellent.
Après ski in Les Gets
Après ski in Les gets is quiet particularly mid-week. The Irish Pub and Black bear are popular and there is a disco called the Igloo, but fair to say, if you are looking for late night clubs Les Gets shouldn’t be on you list! Perhaps this is why it’s so popular with families.
Activities off the slopes in Les Gets
Great for children with an out door ice rink, fitness centre with pool and bowling. There is also a cinema. Husky rides and snow shoeing are also possible.
