Chalet Christine

La Tania, France
  • Catered Chalet
  • Sleeps 28
    , nights

Chalet Christine was built in the traditional Alpine style from Russian pine - it has a wonderful ambience from the log-cabin style structure which makes it warm and welcoming.  This large ski chalet is located in the village of La Tania (Three Valleys), just a stone's throw away from the piste and the high speed gondola lift - in good conditions you can ski out to the gondola from the driveway, as it is just below.  If you're not up to this short off-piste descent, then for those who know La Tania, the chalet is right next to "the bridge" which is a walkway with a lift at the end taking you down into the village centre and pistes.

The chalet benefits from two living rooms which can be joined together to form one large room or separated - this is ideal for groups with children, where the kids can enjoy the satellite TV in one room leaving the other free for the adult conversation.  Each living room has a welcoming fireplace and doors to the balconies with stunning views over the Bozel Valley.

Making use of the "the bridge", Chalet Christine is just a short walk from the centre of La Tania village where you will find a number of bars and restaurants - both for apres ski and for the evening meal on chalet staff's day off.  There is a variety to choose from including the popular "Ski Lodge" bar or even the Michelin Start "Le Farcon" restaurant.

Chalet Christine can accommodate up to 28 people in total in several different room types - including two family "suites" which consist of a double room and a separate bunk room sharing a shower room between them.  There are also two bunk en-suite rooms which can be used for two children or as single rooms for adults without incurring a single supplement - this chalet is usually able to accommodate groups of all shapes and sizes!  Those looking for a family chalet will find the child prices very attractive - 8 of the beds in the chalet are available at great value for money prices for children under 13.

Guests can now enjoy a good nights sleep in newly fitted Hypnos beds, world renowned as the ultimate in sleep indulgence.

This chalet operates its own fully licenced transfers between Geneva and Grenoble, directly to this chalet, prices start at just £95 per person return, (based on 4 people, shared transfer) ask us for more details. All you need to book is a low-cost flight!

Private transfers for groups of 8 or more also available exclusively for a tailored door to door service.

This operator believes that the standard of the food is too important for the chalet staff to decide so they don't give their staff a budget and leave it up to them to cut corners! The menu is set at the beginning of the season and all staff are trained how to prepare every meal - you are therefore guaranteed that the food will be of the same standard, no matter which chalet you choose.

The main menu is identical wherever you go so even in one of their lower priced chalets, you won't go short of good quality food. They generally don't employ professional chefs as they prefer to train their own teams in their way to their high standards. They want to see left-overs on their tables - or you haven't had enough to eat. In today's economic climate, the cost of eating out in resort has increased but guests have no need to do this except on the chalet couple's day off. The breakfast table is loaded with as much as you can eat and when you return from skiing there is another loaded afternoon tea table so you leave well stocked up for your day's skiing and an expensive lunch is not necessary as you can eat your fill when you come back.

Breakfast has got to be one of the best in the Alps! They are famous for their fantastic traditional full English breakfast, available every day except for the chalet hosts day off - proper back bacon and traditional Irish sausages, Heinz Baked Beans imported from the UK go together with the eggs cooked to order, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried bread to ensure their guests are served the ‘real McCoy'. But of course it isn't just the cooked option - they also serve freshly baked in-house French bread (sourced from the same suppliers as the local bakeries, but baked in the chalet to ensure it is always warm and fresh!), jams and spreads, cereals, muesli, natural yoghurt, fresh fruit - and of course orange juice, tea and coffee.

When you return from skiing, afternoon tea will satisfy those hunger pangs with more freshly baked French bread and freshly home-made cake in plentiful supply - not limited to one piece per person so no need to make sure you're first back from the slopes! For those who prefer the low-carb option, apples and oranges are available in the fruit bowl. Afternoon tea is served by chalet staff so fresh supplies are readily available whenever you return and the service continues throughout.

    Dietary Requirements

They can cater for all types of special dietary requirements - including vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free, nut-free and child menus with many products imported from England to suit the tastes of the British kids. These menu variations are also standard throughout the company so even these are not left to chance - for some special dietary requirements there is a small supplement to cover the additional cost and complexity of the requirement. Supplements are currently:

    • Adult meals for children under 13 who have paid a child price - £100 (children must then eat at the adult meal time)
    • Vegetarian, no red meat, no fish, no pork, no lamb - free of charge
    • Diabetic - £10 supplement
    • Gluten-free - £20 supplement
    • Dairy free - £20 supplement
    • Vegan (Dairy Free Vegetarian) - £25 supplement
    • No alcohol - non-alcoholic drink alternatives are provided with the evening meal for the person who does not drink - free of charge, but you need to let us know your choice from our non-alcoholic list in advance (so we can ensure there are sufficient supplies of your preferred drink in the chalet for you).

If you have any dietary requirements which do not fall into the above "standard options" then you need to discuss these with us and we will do our best to accommodate you!

    Wine

Bottled wine is served which is of a good standard - a choice of red, white and rose served throughout the evening meal. The complimentary wines for this coming season are as follows:

Chemin des Pins Sauvignon Blanc - sometimes you just want a light, crisp white to glug down easily by the glass (or bottle) - this is just the job.
Rare Vineyards Blanc de Blancs - this is uber-refreshing, tangy, lemony and fresh. Dangerously moreish and incredibly versatile.
Domaine Montplo Rouge - a lovely light-to-medium-bodied southern red, with ample aromas and flavours of blackcurrant and red berries.
Rare Vineyards Carignan - bright, juicy, soft-hearted red from the South of France made from the peppery Carignan grape.
Montgravet Rose - a lovely ‘blush’ rose from the southwest of France rammed full of fresh berry flavour and a reassuring acidity.

    Beer and Wine Upgrades

If you would like to enjoy wines outside of the dinner time, or you prefer beer to wine, then we can offer a comprehensive upgrade service where you can purchase from a wide choice of wines and champagnes, or try out their NEW Craft Beers product. These must be ordered by special order in advance of your holiday - please ask us for details. They also have a standard cash minibar in each chalet which is continuously stocked with Kronenburg beer and soft drinks - you can also purchase additional bottles of the standard wines above for consumption outside of the meal.

    Chalet Day Off

On the chalet couple's day off (one day in the middle of the week), a buffet breakfast will be available for you to help yourselves - the only day of the week when the Full English option is not available. The resort managers and other chalet staff will be around to make sure you have all you need and to clear up and set the table for afternoon tea - although your chalet couple are away for the day, the resort managers will be available if you need anything. In the evening, you can try out one of the local restaurants - They'll have their menus in the chalets and chalet staff can help you make your choice and book you a table.

Menus are not fancy and complicated - they are based on normal homecooked food but with the professional touch of their chefs and their own stringent high standards. This way they ensure that most options suit the tastes of most people and the staff are more than capable of producing perfect results every time.
