Why choose Brides les Bains

Brides Les Bains will appeal to those looking to ski on a budget in the famous Three Valleys Ski area. In 1992 when Meribel hosted the winter games this is where the competitors were accommodated and when the Olympic gondola was installed to whisk competitors up to the base at Meribel. This gondola takes around 25 minutes to reach Meribel and saves a long and winding drive up the valley so is the best way to reach the slopes.

Brides Les Bains is a spa town and has a good selection of hotels and a more limited selection of apartments.

The lift back from Meribel to Brides Les Bains close too early at 5pm but when the conditions are good it’s possible to ski off piste back down to the mid station at the end of the day (when conditions are excellent it’s possible to ski off piste all the way down if you feel inclined!)

Skiing in Brides les Bains

Beginners skiing

As the skiing will start in Meribel via the Olympic gondola this is where you will head each day, the slopes around Meribel are ideal for beginners to learn, particularly the green runs around the Altiport. There are many ski schools to choose from in Meribel and we’ve had good reports on all.

Intermediate skiing

Intermediates will love the skiing in the Three Valleys area; it’s regarded as one of the best intermediate ski areas in the whole of France if not Europe.

Advanced skiing

Advanced skiers have over 650km of pistes to ski of which 42% is on red or black runs, the off piste is renowned among advanced skiers and snow boarders from around the world. Meribel offers some excellent off piste skiing for all levels.

Snowboarding

As your day will start at Meribel that’s where we will begin too, on arrival in Meribel boarders will instantly notice that boarders and skiers are about 50/50, its easy to see why Meribel has become a Mecca for snow boarders.

Après ski in Brides Les Bains

The Night Life is distinctly quiet. Most of the evenings entertainment occurs in the many hotels. There are a few local bars and restaurants and the town has a Casino in case you are feeling lucky.

Activities off the slopes in Brides Les Bains

It’s a proper town so makes and a good base for non skiers. The choices of shops are far better than in any ski resort, many of the hotels offer spa treatments.
