December Ski Holidays 2026

December ski holidays are a bit of a hidden gem in the ski calendar, especially in the first few weeks before Christmas. You’ll often find prices around 30% lower than peak weeks, along with quieter slopes and a much more relaxed feel. It still feels festive too, with decorated villages and Christmas markets already in full swing.

Early-season snow can be superb, but choose your resort carefully. Some lifts and runs may not be open yet, particularly at lower altitudes, so we’d strongly recommend focusing on high-altitude or glacier resorts like Val Thorens or Tignes.

Après-ski can be a little quieter, with some bars and restaurants only opening closer to Christmas, but that’s part of the appeal.
