Jasper is a charming friendly Canadian ski resort that gives a real flavour of the west. It’s a haven for wildlife lovers with skiing in the unspoilt Marmot Basin in the beautiful Jasper national park.

Jasper is Canadas highest ski resort at 1700m and also its most northerly ski resort. It has a reputation for deep dry snow as well as glaciers, forests, frozen lakes and 100’ high frozen waterfalls. The friendly locals will make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive and include free mountain hosts who offer a daily ski guiding service to show you around. (not suitable for beginners).

The lifts are fast and queues simply don’t happen in Jasper. The skiing suits all levels from beginner to advanced, but will appeal most to intermediate skiers.

Beginners skiing in Jasper

The School House T-bar accesses ideal nursery slopes and the Marmot Basin ski school offers caring instruction for beginners. Easy confidence boosting runs include Home Run, Sleepy Hollow and Bunny Hop and novice terrain is available from almost all lifts.

Intermediates skiing in Jasper

Over 70 uncrowded, named trails, the longest 5.6kms long. Try runs like Tranquilliser off the Eagle Express high speed quad chair, Scenic Paradise from the top of Caribou Ridge or the Knob Traverse below Marmot Peak.

Advanced skiing in Jasper

Enjoy exciting bump runs such as Exhibition under the triple chair, the chutes of Dupres Bowl or the untracked powder through the trees on Chalet Slope. The opening of Eagle East is superb news for advanced skiers and if you have any energy left, hike down to Marmot Peak and fly down the powdery runs.

Snowboarding in Jasper

There are regular events such as The New Ground Snowboard Cup. Those wanting to freeride should check out Eagle East where the bowls are sure to give you a grin. Freestylers will not feel left out with a good snowboard park and natural grooves in the snow such as Punch Bowl.

Après ski in Jasper

Some of the popular venues are Nick’s Bar and the Atha-B Nightclub. There is a selection of bars and restaurants to choose from with ‘Andy’s Bistro’ on the high street offering some great Canadian food and the ‘Bear’s Paw Bakery’ which makes some delicious snacks.
