Why Ski in Pas de la Casa?

  • Budget friendly with affordable lift passes and duty free shops
  • Access the massive 210km Grandvalira ski area
  • Walkable village featuring many ski-in/ski-out hotels
  • High altitude and north facing slopes for reliable snow
  • One of the liveliest après scenes in Andorra

Pas de la Casa, often simply called “Pas”, is Andorra’s highest ski resort at 2,100m and sits on the French border. It forms part of the Grandvalira ski area, offering over 200km of linked slopes connected to resorts such as Soldeu and El Tarter, all accessible on a single lift pass. The resort is compact and walkable, with many properties offering ski-in/ski-out access and a well-known duty-free shopping scene for everything from alcohol to electronics.

Pas de la Casa is also Andorra’s liveliest resort, attracting skiers and snowboarders who enjoy a vibrant après-ski atmosphere that runs late into the night. Despite its reputation for partying, the skiing itself is excellent, with reliable snow supported by extensive snowmaking and long-lasting conditions well into spring. With varied pistes for beginners and intermediates, plus quick connections across Grandvalira, Pas offers plenty of mileage for all abilities.

Transfer times from Toulouse or Barcelona are around three hours, and Pas is one of the more straightforward Andorran bases to reach, making it a convenient choice for groups and adventurous skiers.

The Skiing in Pas de la Casa

Confident beginners love the wide reds, intermediates can cruise for miles, and advanced skiers will find hidden freeride gems. Pas de la Casa is a surprisingly well-rounded resort, especially within the Grandvalira ski domain.

Beginner Skiing in Pas de La Casa

Pas de la Casa is a strong choice for beginners thanks to its dedicated nursery slope area right at resort level, making first steps on snow easy and accessible. The English-speaking ski school has an excellent reputation. While there are fewer true green runs, the many wide and mellow blue slopes are forgiving enough for quick progress.

Intermediate Skiing in Pas de La Casa

Intermediates are well catered for in Pas de la Casa. The local slopes offer a wealth of red and blue runs, many of them wide, fast, and confidence-boosting. From Pas, skiers can explore much of Grandvalira’s 200+km of piste. Runs like “Central” and the routes toward Grau Roig are ideal for refining skills without pressure. Intermediates can ski for days without repeating a run.

Advanced Skiing in Pas de La Casa

While Pas de la Casa doesn’t compete with the Alps for vertical or gnarly steeps, there’s still something here for advanced skiers, especially freeride fans. A handful of black runs, some mogul fields, and off-piste bowls above the resort offer challenge when snow conditions allow. For more serious terrain, adventurous skiers can venture further across Grandvalira or seek out the boardercross and snowparks for thrills. Pas is more about mileage and fun than hardcore expert terrain, but there are still pockets of challenge.

Family Ski Holidays in Pas de la Casa

Despite its party town reputation, Pas is surprisingly family-friendly. It is renowned for its English-speaking ski schools, safe beginner zones for kids and affordable childcare. Budget-friendly dining and duty-free shopping keep also family costs low. Families seeking quieter nights should book accommodation slightly outside the town centre or opt for soundproofed hotels.

Ski Holidays Pas de la Casa for Groups

If your group is looking for cheap drinks, high-energy après-ski and tons of terrain for mixed abilities then Pas is a dream destination. Party with on-mountain DJs to late-night clubs with popular venues including Paddy’s Bar, Milwaukee, and Olimpiades Terrace.
