• Snowmobile – Drivers must be 18+ with a full, valid photo driver’s license. Passengers must be 11+ and 140cm+ tall. Children under 11 or under 140cm will be towed in a sled/pod (heating not guaranteed).
• Excursion experiences and durations vary between resorts and are dependent on weather conditions
• Most excursion days and times will be advised shortly after booking, others will be confirmed on arrival in resort
• Travel Insurance is required for booking. Must cover planned activities and personal circumstances, including medical conditions. Snowmobile damage is not usually covered so a compulsory excess is payable directly to the supplier of the excursion. Single-driver snowmobile supplement available in all resorts (18+ only).
• Cancellation: In the event of cancellation of a qualifying excursion, the cost of the excursion, minus the % saving on the total package, will be deducted from any refund due. You will then be charged full price for any remaining excursions.

Lapland Adventure activity selection

Horse Riding

Enjoying a horse back-ride (or perhaps a sleigh ride) is a gentle way to take in your surroundings whilst in Lapland. The local horses to Lapland are strong and loving creatures, who wouldn’t turn their nose up at a little snack if offered. Together, you and the horses can take a memorable ride around the local forests and breathe in the wonderfully fresh air.

You can either opt to go for a horse ride, or if you would prefer to huddle up warmly as a family, you can enjoy a sleigh ride instead.

Enjoy the winter magic whilst riding along snowy forest trails. With a rose tinted sky being seen through the snow-laden trees, you will get the feeling of an enchanted journey on horseback.

A perfect experience for both beginner and experienced riders, you will warm up after your hack with a hot drink and cookie. You may also choose to sit back and relax in a one horse open sleigh under the starry night sky, being in search of the Northern Lights.

Husky Safari

Be a part of a long-standing tradition of Husky-sledding, a way for people to move across the land of ice and snow and transport their goods. Our Lapland Safaris are designed with you and your family in mind – to immerse yourself in Lapland life.

Our Husky rides are great fun for all the family and are definitely worth participating in whilst you enjoy this once in a lifetime holiday experience. The huskies are always animated and ready to go. As soon as they are harnessed to their sleds, the sound of excited barking fills the air. The huskies are in their element as the sled glides across the pristine snow.

After some essential instruction you and your team of huskies will be on your way. Keeping in line along the trails, speeding through the wilderness and weaving through the deep forest in the low winter sun.

Our husky excursions have been tailor-made to suit all ages, experience and fitness levels. With the shorter safaris being the most popular, there are also longer half-day trips and an evening safari in search of the Northern Lights.

There are so many fun things to do whilst on holiday in Lapland, whether you are staying as a group of friends or as a family with children of all ages. From giving show-shoeing a try so you can view the wilderness around you or perhaps a race around the course in an ice-karting competition. There is no doubt you will have a full and exhilarating week.

Snowshoeing

Take a gentle guided snow-shoe walk, immersing yourself in the stunning Arctic Circle scenery. Breathe in the fresh air as you reach some spectacular and untouched beauty spots. On your well deserved break you will take a seat ready for hot drinks and interesting stories about the night sky, Northern Lights and the Lappish culture.

Choose to take a daytime trip or an evening walk, searching for the magical show of the Northern Lights.

Ice Karting

Get competitive and race your friends and family in this exciting ice-karting event, take your turn at rallying around the course and see who is your speediest team member. Ice-karts are easy to drive and similar to Go-Karts but on a snow-packed track.

This exciting event from Levi and Saariselka includes driving instructions, helmets, thermal suits, boots and gloves. With warm up laps, heats and a final with prizes, you will be the Lewis Hamilton of the ice-karting world in no time.

Snow Village & Bar excursion

The clever lighting of the snow, ice-sculptures and wall-carvings, and the way the lights glow through the solid ice ‘furniture’ creates a mystical feel to the Lainio Snow Village & Bar.

Each winter it takes over 27,000 cubic metres of snow, chunks of river-ice up to a metre thick and weighing up to 3 tonnes, and a team of 50 people working flat out for 350 hours, to create its impressive 4,500 square metres of this village. Beautiful carvings decorate the rooms, courtyards, ice bar, restaurant and Ice Chapel.

From Levi and Ylläs, a day visit includes a tour around the Snow Village & bar and a trip into the Ice Grotto where you can see ice sculptures and decorated snow suites on show.

Wilderness dining experience

Take a scenic snowmobile sleigh ride through the snowy landscape past forests and icy lakes to arrive at a traditional Finnish cabin in the woods that surround Levi. Enjoy a three course meal made with local and foraged ingredients for a unique dining experience.

Reindeers are famously gentle creatures, despite their stature and are a peaceful way to see Lapland. Local people have worked with reindeer for many generations and they are a part of the locals way of life.

Reindeer Discovery and Adventure

Visiting a local reindeer farm gives you an evocative picture of the traditional lifestyle, in which reindeer play a central part. You will hear great stories from your hosts and learn all about the reindeer, including their fondness for mushrooms.

Ride in a reindeer sleigh through the snowy fells and forests, which feels as if you have entered the secret world of Narnia through a magic wardrobe. At least until your reindeer decides to pause for a snack on some tasty lichen under the snow… some do have a stubborn streak.

Either way, you can get close to one of our (and Santa’s) favourite animals – something not to be missed!

Reindeer Herding Experience and Picnic

You now have truly a special, once in a lifetime chance to experience something only very few in the world have – immerse yourself in the world of authentic reindeer herding lifestyle!

Experience the dozens of gentle reindeer coming to you – feed them from your hand, take pictures and videos with hundreds of them surrounding you from all sides.

Afterwards, enjoy the warmth of a campfire whilst grilling homemade sausages or having sandwiches. Have a cup of coffee or tea and just relax. That’s what the reindeer herding experience is all about!

Snowmobile Safari

There is no better way to speed around the arctic ice and snow than on a snowmobile – a great way to have some fun and see all that Lapland has to offer.

Snowmobiles are actually an easy way for local people to get around and are widely used in the arctic area – they make much more sense than a car when your homeland is covered in snow for most of the year.

Why not take this opportunity to give it a go yourself.

*We would recommend booking the shorted Snowmobile trips with younger children due to the cold weather outside. We would recommend booking your Snowmobile trip at your earliest convenience to ensure booking your preferred time slot (for example if you want to spend your Snowmobile trip chasing the Northern Lights, you will need an evening booking).

Experience an exhilarating ride through the breath-taking arctic scenery, changing from deep pine forests, fells, moorland, to the wide open expanses of frozen lakes and rivers.

You will be kitted out in some serious winter gear, including complete thermal suits and boots, thick gloves and insulated helmets. With the surprisingly easy to drive snowmobiles you will be on your trip in no time. Pausing for a break halfway through to really take in the snowy wilderness that is around you.
