Why Ski in Valloire?
The ski resort of Valloire shares its ski area with Valmeinier and is the largest ski area in the Maurienne ski area. It’s a bustling old mountain village dating back to 17th centre, with the centre being car free, which adds to its appeal for families.
Valloire covers 150km of piste and a ski range of between 1430m to 2595m with 56 blue runs, 30 red and 9 black runs. The skiing is spread across 3 valleys. Valloire is perfectly based at the foot of the mountains and has access to two of the valleys straight above the resort. The area is best suited to beginners and intermediate skiers and snow boarders.

For beginners it’s an ideal choice there is an excellent nursery slope in front of the village and a further area higher above. Once the basics are mastered it’s possible to ski or snow boarder around the whole area on a net work of gentle blue runs.

Ideal, Valloire is geared to appeal to intermediates of all levels with over 86 runs designed with you in mind.
Advanced skiing in Valloire
Very limited for experts and advanced skiers and boarders, there is some good off piste skiing to be found in the Valmeinier side of the ski area and with only 9 black runs you’d be better to look else where.

Beginners and intermediate snow boarders are well catered for in Valloire, advanced boarders will find challenging runs limited.

The après ski is mainly centred around bars and restaurants but finishes earlier than in many larger resorts.
Activities off the slopes in Valloire
As in most ski resorts activities for non skiers is limited, but Valloire has a fitness centre with sauna and Jacuzzi. It’s also possible to try your hand at paragliding or a mountain walk in snow shoes. Valloire also has bowling lanes and a cinema. The shops are limited mainly to ski equipment and the like.
