Why Ski In Klosters?

Klosters is a ski resort with famous Royal connections – it’s a favourite of King Charles. You don’t have to be Royalty to ski here though!

Klosters is a sizable village with a relaxed atmosphere (quieter and more traditional than nearby Davos), spread along a long valley that offers access to a sizeable 300km Davos-Klosters Ski Area. Klosters is located at 1,190m with the ski range between 810m to 2,845m ensuring reliable snow. Most of the skiing is on open slopes high above the wooded area.

Intermediates will enjoy the scenic runs on Parsenn and the family-friendly Madrisa sector, while advanced skiers are drawn to the extensive off-piste and lift-accessed freeride routes. The slopes between Dorf and Platz are ideal for learning.

The village has a charming air of good, old-fashioned Swiss hospitality with a variety of excellent restaurants and all the traditional apres-ski pursuits you require.

The Skiing In Klosters

Beginners Skiing In Klosters

The Madrisa ski area is the best place with wide, sunny nursery slopes, however there are other nursery slopes at valley level some of which are floodlit on some evenings for night time practice. From here beginners will progress onto some of the many easy intermediate slopes to choose from.

Intermediates Skiing In Klosters

Fantastic cruising in all areas, though a ‘must do’ is a very long run from Weissfluhjoch that heads north on the back of the mountain that curls back towards Klosters – 10 – 12 km in all. The long run down to the hamlet of Kublis is particularly good.

Advanced Skiing In Klosters

The extensive off piste possibilities will be the main appeal for experts. Head towards Davos for some more challenging pistes. Two of the steepest runs are from Gotschnagrat directly towards Klosters.

Skiing In Klosters

Klosters shares its large ski area with near by Davos and has five ski areas, so plenty to keep all standards of skier happy with extensive intermediate slopes and a great variety of off piste. The long wooded runs down into the village are particularly good. The train that runs along the valley is useful as it enables you to ski amongst the trees towards one of the hamlets in the valley; have lunch in one of the little mountain restaurants or the village and then take a leisurely train ride back home.

Snowboarding In Klosters

Head towards Davos, as Jakobshorn is the established boarder mountain with Fun Park, boarder cross course and half pipe. Near beginners and intermediates will be happy with the runs here and the off piste will challenge the more expert amongst you.

Ski Passes

The Davos Klosters Mountains ski pass covers five major ski areas: Parsenn/Gotschna, Madrisa, Jakobshorn, Rinerhorn, and Pischa.

Multi-day passes (three days or more) are valid across the entire region, while one- or two-day tickets can be limited to individual mountains or combinations.

The pass includes free use of local transport, such as the Rhaetian Railway between Klosters and Davos, and PostBus services linking ski areas. This makes it possible to ski long runs ending in nearby villages and return by train or bus. Additional options include beginner area passes, partial-day tickets, and seasonal passes. Promotions and discounts vary by season.

Ski Lessons

Klosters is known for high-quality ski and snowboard instruction through established schools such as the Swiss Ski & Snowboard School Klosters. Lessons are available for all ages, starting from age three in the Snowgarden.

Group classes typically run in the mornings, with options for afternoon or full-day sessions, especially for children. Adults can choose between group or private lessons, with many opting for private coaching. Instruction is available in multiple languages, including English and German.

The resort also offers family lessons, off-piste guiding, and structured children’s programmes with badges, levels, and end-of-week races. Early booking is recommended in peak periods.

Après Ski In Klosters

Gaudys at the foot of the slopes is a popular apres-ski haunt; later on into the evening there are lots of good restaurants (however be prepared to have deep pockets) – cheap and cheerful they are not! The Casa Antica is a popular nightclub and the Kir Royale is a popular watering hole. Most of the upmarket hotels offer swimming pools, spas and fitness rooms. Klosters is also an attractive base for walking. Why not try snowtubing ?!
