Geilo Resort Details

Situated in the south of Norway and on the railway line from Bergen to Oslo is the ski resort of Geilo. A small resort at 800m, Geilo is completely different to a ski resort in the Alps.
The resort centre has managed to maintain Norwegian charm, and Ski Line can offer log cabins, forest chalets, self catered apartments and half board hotels here which make up the majority of the accommodation available.
There are a total of 40 runs in the ski resort of Geilo, served by 20 lifts; a mixture of draglifts and 2 or 4 seat chair lifts. The runs vary in difficulty, with something for all levels of skier.
Families are well suited in Geilo, with a well run ski school providing lessons for all levels and ages, and lots of activities for children.

Après ski in the ski resort of Geilo
Geilo at night isn’t hugely lively during the week, with a small selection of restaurants and bars, mainly in the hotels. It gets busier and more atmospheric at weekends however; with bars such as the ‘Little Blue Bar’ offering live music where will you enjoy a few drinks.

Activities off the slopes in the ski resort of Geilo
Norway boasts a good range of winter activities for families, those who want a break from the slopes or non-skiers. Husky dog safaris are a good chance to see the Scandinavian landscape, walks through the tree tops are fun and something different and even a visit to Santa can be made.

Beginners skiing in the ski resort of Geilo
For complete beginners or perhaps less confident skiers the ski resort of Geilo is great as runs here are gentle, wide and generally un-crowded. An award-winning ski school with excellent English speaking instructors is here to guide you and build up your confidence.

Intermediates skiing in the ski resort of Geilo
With two different ski areas in Geilo and a ski bus linking the two, there are plenty of long, wide runs for you to cruise down and improve on your technique. You can also ski through the trees, and if you’re feeling particularly confident and up for a challenge you can have a go at a mogul field.

Advanced skiing in the ski resort of Geilo
Five black runs reside in the Norwegian ski resort of Geilo, but it’s not an advanced or expert skier’s ideal resort. However you can head to nearby Hemsedal, an hour’s drive away, or try out the Norwegian’s new favourite type of skiing, telemarking.

Snowboarding in the ski resort of Geilo
Snowboarding in Geilo is extensive, with the runs catering for any level of boarder and the resort boasting Scandinavia’s only super-pipe. There are also half pipes, two snowboard parks and lots of jumps to test your skills or simply have some fun.
