Pragelato Ski Resort Guide

Why Ski in Pragelato?

Linked to Sestriere and Nestled in the heart of the Alps in the beautiful Piedmont region, just under a two-hour drive from Turin lies the charming resort of Pragelato. This traditionally styled village centres around the Club Med Pragelato Via Lattea Resort. The centre is a short, eight minute cable car ride from the world famous resort of Sestriere, part of the amazing ‘Milky Way’ ski area, which offers 400km of pistes all on one lift pass.

Pragelato itself played host to the Nordic skiing events of the 2006 Winter Olympics: the cross-country skiing – which is quite common amongst the locals, ski jumping & the Nordic combined events.

The resort has benefited from significant investment as a result of the Olympics & now provides excellent facilities both on & off the snow. The impressive Club Med Pragelato Via Lattea makes a great base to enjoy all that the region has to offer. It’s not cheap, but for this level of quality & service which is still rare in Italian ski resorts – there is little competition.

Beginners skiing in Pragelato

Gentle nursery slopes and lifts are located right outside the ski school in the centre of the resort, providing a handy meeting point for you and your companions. As the week progresses you will find yourself on tree-lined blues down to Borgata, steadily building your confidence all the time.

Intermediates skiing in Pragelato

As one of the world’s premier intermediate ski areas the Milky Way will take you from one pretty ski village to the next, on predominantly flattering red runs that make the miles disappear under your skis. A fantastic improver’s location. There are lovely wide runs down into Sestriere.

Advanced skiing in Pragelato

World Cup downhill and slalom host Sestriere will test the mettle of any skier, while the huge off-piste potential will keep back country fans fully occupied for their stay. Freestylers are catered for as well with a park in the Cit Roc area (open when conditions permit).

Snowboarding in Pragelato

Beginners will love the wide open runs above the tree-line and gentle nursery slopes on Sestriere’s sunny plateau. Improvers can head to the top of Banchetta for some high speed runs right down to Borgata before the vast Milky Way calls you to explore its endless slopes.

Après ski in Pragelato

Relaxation is key in Pragelato and that extends to the après ski as well. Being very much a family orientated resort the nightlife is quiet, however the Pragelato Village Resort does have three bars and three restaurants to choose from, as well as first class spa facilities including a swimming pool and massage rooms. All of this makes it very easy to relax after a day on the slopes.
