Chalet Acajuma (Contactless Chalet Catering)

Val d’Isere, France
  • Chalet Club Board
  • Sleeps 12
    , nights

Chalet Acajuma is located in one of France's most chic and desirable ski resorts, Val d'Isère. This stunning Savoyard village has loads of character and charm, plus one of the most highly regarded ski areas in the world. The connected area of Val d'Isère and Tignes offer over 300km of slopes, with something to suit all abilities, plus one of the best snow records in all of France. The chalet can be found on the Route du Petit Alaska, a pretty and peaceful street just a few minutes' walk to the main high street of Val d'Isère, where you'll find a fantastic selection of bars, shops and restaurants. The chalet is approximately 10 minutes' walk from the Solaise and Bellevarde lifts, which give fast access to the whole of the Val d'Isere-Tignes area.

    The Chalet

Chalet Acajuma is a stylish and high quality property, with a finish that blends chic modern furnishings with traditional Savoyard architecture. With five bedrooms spread across four floors and space to accommodate up to twelve guests, this beautiful property would make the perfect home-from-home for your family or friends. One feature we particularly love about this chalet is the underfloor heating throughout, which can be controlled by individual thermostats for each room.

Entrance to the chalet is on the ground floor, where you'll find a ski and boot store where you can store your equipment, which is also equipped with heated boot driers, to ensure you've got lovely warm toes each morning before hitting the slopes. There's also a garage with space for one car, so if you're driving to resort, you'll have somewhere to keep the car safe from Val d'Isère's notoriously heavy snowfall, plus an additional space outside on the driveway. For added luxury that will set this chalet apart from the crowd, on the ground floor there is a wellness space, with indoor hot tub and sauna, perfect for easing the aches and pains that can come after a long day of attacking the slopes. There is also a separate WC on this floor, so those using the wellness area don't have to dash all the way back upstairs.

Most of the communal living spaces are located on the second floor, where you'll find a beautiful open plan living/kitchen/dining room which has a lovely fireplace, perfect for keeping you toasty and warm on a cold winters night and large picture windows and a sizeable terrace from which you can enjoy the stunning views that Val d'Isère has to offer. The dining table has enough space to seat up to twelve guests, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family that has been prepared in the full equipped kitchen, complete with an oven, four-ring hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, nespresso machine and coffee percolator.

The living room sofas are deep and comfortable and the perfect spot in which to unwind with a glass of wine or hot chocolate by the roaring fire, whilst reading a book or playing a board game with friends, which you'll find a selection of at your disposal in the chalet. If the group can't agree on evening activities, Chalet Acajuma offers an additional TV/sitting room on the first floor with a large flat screen smart TV, so there's no problem if you want to chill out and watch your favourite film or series on Netflix using the chalet's free wifi, whilst others sit and chat or play games by the fireplace upstairs.

There are five comfortable bedrooms in the chalet each with its own flat screen television, so if you fancy a quiet night to yourself one evening, you can curl up in your bed and catch up on your favourite series or just get an early night. There are two bedrooms on the first floor, each with a king size double bed (160cm x 200cm) and en-suite bathrooms, one of which has a shower, the other a bath. The remaining three bedrooms have twin beds (90cm x 200cm), one with a balcony and the others both with en-suite bathrooms, one of which has a bath and the other a shower. These five bedrooms sleep up to ten guests, but if you're looking to squeeze in a couple more, there are two sofa beds that can be made in the television lounge on the first floor. All of the beds have the finest 30cm spring mattresses, as well as memory foam toppers providing the ultimate comfort, although perhaps this may make it a little tricky to get up each morning.

If you're driving to Val d'Isère the chalet has a car parking space available for one car in front of the chalet.

    Premium Contactless Catering Service

This operator presents the next generation of chalet holidays, for a contactless world. Your chalet will be ready on arrival - beds made, dinner ready and fridges stocked*, wine-cellars replenished, skis and lift passes all booked. But you won't see them. They'll be at the end of the phone, but there will be no contact unless you need it. They will visit your chalet mid-week to give it a full clean and change of towels and bed-linen, but this shall be done during the day, whilst you're out on the slopes. You and your family will be safe and looked after, as they work in the background, providing everything you need.

Their contactless catering service comes with the choice of two pricing options, a fixed menu with food and drink included in the price, and their à la carte option which allows you greater flexibility to eat and drink whatever you desire and the cost of the food is on supplement, at cost price, and depending on what produce you choose to order.

For those looking for a simple packaged chalet price, they are offering an all-inclusive price, which includes rental of the chalet and your food and drink for the week. Included will be breakfast, snacks to take with you skiing, afternoon tea and cakes/snacks, pre-dinner nibbles a three-course dinner on 6 out of 7 nights, with a selection of after-dinner cheeses, plus champagne for your first night, a kir for before dinner and unlimited wine and some beers. They have prepared a delicious menu for the week, with a mix of ready prepared meals from a local delicatessen and easy to cook dishes or sides. All that will be required from you is to pop a few things in the oven and throw together a few ingredients to make a simple salad, or steam a few vegetables as sides to your main meal.

Perhaps you want the freedom to choose your own menus, or perhaps you'd prefer to eat out more than one evening during the week, or you just love to cook yourself and enjoy the holidays where you have time to do this in a relaxed way. That's where their à la carte contactless catering service comes in. As an alternative to the service detailed above, they will also offer a lower rate, which does not include the food and drink for the week and we will give you the opportunity to order the food and drink of your choice, at the local hypermarket rates, and bill you for this afterwards. Four days before arrival, you will receive a comprehensive provisions list with everything you could possibly need for your holiday. That might be oven-ready meals, or the ingredients you'll need for Bolognaise, Soufflés or Cheese Fondues. Dry goods, dairy, fresh fruit and veg, fresh meat or fish, beers, wines, champagne, whatever, all bought for you and stocked in advance.

Their aim is to provide the safest possible environment for a ski holiday, whilst staying as affordable as possible. The new way to holiday will be by enjoying the facilities, food and beverages but without the staff waiting on you hand and foot. That will keep things safe and affordable. However, for those in search of a little more luxury, they are able to provide drivers, chefs, daily cleaning, ski lessons etc, all of which can be discussed at the time of booking or with our concierge service prior to arrival.

    What's Included?

Beds made on arrival, with bathrobes and slippers, mid-week and end of stay cleaning, plus midweek linen and towel change, satellite TV and free wifi. Our contactless catering service, where we shop, deliver and stock your kitchen before your arrival and half-way through your stay*.

*The backstage team's work of organising and delivering provisions and cleaning the chalet is all included in the marked chalet price. If you choose the “Contactless catering service”, the price also includes all your food and drink for the week. We will provide you with breakfast every day, afternoon tea and snacks, pre-dinner nibbles, plus a three-course dinner on six of the seven nights, which also includes, a selection of cheeses, champagne for your first evening, a kir before dinner, unlimited red and white wine and a few beers.

**Please note that for the à la carte option, all food, drink, ski hire and lift passes come at additional costs and are not included in the chalet price. For our fixed menu option, the price does not include ski hire and lift passes, but it does include breakfast and afternoon tea for 7 days, plus a 3-course dinner with beer and wine for 6 days.

    Important Covid-19 refund promise

It’s an exceptional year which requires exceptional booking conditions. This operator will allow free cancellation up until a week prior to arrival for their 2020/21 Ski Chalet Holidays. If you have to cancel in the 7 days prior to arrival due to government enforced restrictions to travel or movement (a travel ban between your place of residence and destination; self-isolation rulings or a lockdown in your place of residence or resort closure) they will allow you to defer the booking, at the same price, to the next year, or keep all monies paid as a holiday credit on any holiday with this operator for the following 2 years.

A copy of the full terms and conditions are available on request.

Please Note - This operator features two types of Contactless Catering, Classic and Premium. Please see the description above for full details on which of these two options is included with this holiday.

Chalet holidays are not new, but how they will work in Covid-times (and after Brexit) has required new thinking. This winter this operator will launch the next generation of Chalet Holidays for a contactless world. This chalet will be ready on arrival - beds made, dinner ready, fridges stocked, wine-cellars replenished, skis and lift passes all booked. But you won’t any staff. They’ll be at the end of the phone, but there will be no contact. You and your family will be safe and looked after, as they work in the background, providing everything you need.

    How it works

Four days before arrival you'll be sent a comprehensive provisions list with everything you would want for your holiday. That might be oven-ready meals or the ingredients you’ll need for Bolognaise, Soufflés or Cheese Fondues. Dry goods, dairy, fresh fruit and veg, fresh meat or fish, beers, wines, whatever, all bought for you and stocked in advance. Beds will be made, bathrobes and slippers in the bathrooms, logs in the fireplace. Midweek, when you are out skiing, the professional concierge team will be back. Towels changed, beds made, chalet fully cleaned, fridge restocked.

    Is it expensive?

Of course, there’s a cost for providing the services but it’s built into the price. The provisions collected in advance will be billed transparently at cost price with no mark-up. However, the whole chalet will be better value than you’ll have paid last year. Why? Because you’ll be paying local professional staff to provision, clean and care for your chalet.

    What if you want more?

This operator will aim to provide the safest possible environment for a ski holiday, whilst offering affordability that is more important than ever. The new way to holiday will be by enjoying the facilities, food and beverages but without the staff waiting on you hand and foot. That will keep things safe and affordable. However, for those in search of a little more luxury, this operator is able to provide drivers, chefs, daily cleaning, ski lessons etc, all of which can be discussed on booking or with our concierge service prior to arrival.

What measures are in place for protecting us from Covid?

Chalet teams have cleaning and safety protocols to follow and this operator has reinforced the cleaning process with the recommended products to ensure the safety for all. Particular attention is paid to frequent points of contact (door handles, remote controls, light switches…). The chalet is thoroughly aired prior to arrival and staff wear masks and gloves at all time whilst working.
