Why Ski in Seefeld?

Seefeld is a classic winter sports holiday type of resort, built in a Tirolean style with a great village layout with car free centre. The ski resort will appeal to all levels of skiers and snowboarders, particually experts and strong intermediates will enjoy the off piste skiing available here.

The Skiing in Seefeld

The wooded slopes provide a gentle introduction to alpine skiing, as well as 250km of cross-country trails. The main downhill area, beneath the Seefelder Joch, is reached by funicular and cable car providing a lot of fun for intermediate skiers whilst the lower Gschwandtkopf and Geigenbuhl nursery slopes are perfect for beginners.

Beginners Skiing In Seefeld

For a gentle introduction to skiing, Seefeld’s superb ski-school and slopes are highly recommended. Lessons begin on the Geigenbuhel beginners’ area, perfect for mastering those snowplough turns.

Intermediates Skiing in Seefeld

The Gschwandtkopf, served by a series of 8 chairlifts and tows, is close to the village centre and caters mostly for lower intermediates. From the other end of the village, a mountain railway allows you to travel in comfort up to the Rosshutte, offering more challenging pistes for intermediates.

Advanced Skiing in Seefeld

While adventurous experts may find the area limiting, there are one or two runs on the Rosshutte, which should not be taken lightly. The upper slopes of the Seefelder Joch are often heavily mogulled and the off-piste on the far side of the Härmelekopf is excellent, but should only be tackled with a guide.

Snowboarding in Seefeld

Local riders from Innsbruck can be found in the half-pipe and snowboard park here. For intermediates there is some good terrain to explore and beginners shouldn’t find the terrain too stressful.

Après Ski in Seefeld

Seefeld’s après-ski is low-key, more about relaxed bars, live music and a sociable drink than wild partying. At Rosshütte, the summit restaurant terrace becomes lively in mid-afternoon, while the Sportalm hut at Gschwandtkopf is praised for its hot orange punch. Evenings centre on bars such as Fledermaus Disco, Buffalo’s & Jeep, and Wildfang, with closing around 2–3 am. A casino in the village centre offers roulette and blackjack.

Childcare in Seefeld

Seefeld is well-suited to families. The main ski school runs full-day programmes for children from around four years old, with English-speaking instructors and end-of-week races. Younger children can join ski kindergarten sessions that focus on play and first steps on snow.

Reaching Seefeld is easy. It’s just 20–30 minutes from Innsbruck Airport (about 25 km) by road or an equally short train ride, making it perfect for weekend breaks.
