New Year Ski Chalets 2026
New Year ski chalets are among the most sought-after of the season with Ski Line clients, and this year, New Year’s Eve falls especially well, landing on a Thursday. With a Saturday changeover you’re settled in before the celebrations begin, and can ski in the new year too. We often find New Year’s Day pistes surprisingly quiet while the resort recovers from the night before, and is frequently one of our favourite ski days of the week.
Chalets suit two kinds of guests at New Year. For friends, a chalet is a shared space to celebrate together, to head out from for resort NYE events and parties, and a comfortable retreat to recover from the night before. For families, it’s a home-from-home, whether you’re seeing in midnight together or toasting the New Year once the children are asleep. If you want to mark the occasion with a special meal, you’ll find that many catered chalets lay on a special New Year’s Eve menu, often with a glass or two of fizz.
If New Year’s Eve means partying to you, Val Thorens should be top of your list, with an early-evening torchlit descent down the front of the resort, a resort DJ set and light show, and fireworks at midnight of course. Ischgl matches it for scale in Austria, with fireworks set off from no fewer than five sites across the valley in previous years, alongside a massive après scene. To celebrate, but just a little quieter, Val d’Isère and Alpe d’Huez hold torchlit descents too, Val d’Isère’s down the Bellevarde face, with mulled wine at the bottom and fireworks to follow. Or head to the lower villages around Les Arcs and La Plagne, where you can enjoy the firework displays with fewer crowds.
