The ski resort of Nassfeld is situated on the borders of Austria and Italy. This is not a well known ski resort to the UK market but is very popular with Austrians. The snow is always relatively good throughout the season and if there is a shortfall there are good snow making facilities. There are 100km of pistes which are all north facing. The lifts in the resort are now very good after some recent modernisation. The gondola is one of the longest gondolas in Europe. All levels of skiers will find Nassfeld a good ski resort, there is also some good off piste skiing if you go into Italy. The longest run is 7.6 km long and there is also the opportunity to do night skiing as the long run Carnia, is floodlit at night.
Beginners in Nassfeld will enjoy the nursery slopes as they are very wide and shallow. The best area to go to is Sonnleitn ski village.
The ski resort of Nassfeld has 24 red runs which will allow any intermediates to ski around freely and try all the different areas.
For the more advanced skier there are 4 black runs in the area, along with the harder red runs. There is also some great off piste going into Italy.
Snowboarding is very popular in Nassfeld. There is a terrain park with rails jumps and mogul runs. The main area that the snowboarders meet is the Garnitzen Alm.
Nassfeld has a good amount of bars and restaurants, these can be found in both the Austrian and Italian sides. If you travel to Tropolach village just down the road you will find lots of lively bars.
For any non skiers travelling to Nassfeld you can enjoy the ice skating and Snow shoeing. There’s also dog sledding, ski-dooing and snowmobiling.
