The Lodge

Verbier, Switzerland
  • Catered Chalet
  • Sleeps 18
    , nights

The Lodge is Sir Richard Branson's 9-bedroom stunning mountain retreat, high in the Swiss Alps in the world-famous resort of Verbier. The Lodge is open year-round and is the ideal base from which to explore the Alps in summer and in winter.

With over 400km of on-piste skiable terrain, Verbier is a skier (or snowboarder’s) paradise. In the summer months, there's just as much to do, with glorious weather so you can discover the Alps at a more relaxed pace.

The team of friendly and experienced staff at The Lodge includes a General Manager, spa therapist and three chefs. Each one is dedicated to tailor-making each guest experience… People may arrive as guests but often leave as friends. For them, customer service means always being professional and honest and constantly searching for new ways to improve each guest experience.

The Lodge is part of Virgin Limited Edition, Sir Richard Branson's collection of unique retreats.

When the weather is glorious it’s more than likely you’ll be spending plenty of time on the mountain, but when you get back to The Lodge there’s still plenty to do! Pull off those ski or hiking boots and relax in the lounge with a cool drink curled up on a comfy sofa. Or if your muscles ache, take a dip in the indoor heated pool, or warm yourself up in the indoor or outdoor Jacuzzis.

The Lodge also has a fully equipped gym, a steam room and a party area. You can shoot some pool or dance the night away all underneath a twinkling disco ball. If you want to take it easy we can pop on a film for you and your friends or family on the large plasma screen (we’ve got a great selection of DVDs) while you enjoy a few drinks from the bar.

    Party Time

Partying at The Lodge is a serious business! The bar never closes, and just when you think the party’s peaked, the infamous ‘shot ski’ is likely to make an appearance – you have been warned. The party room also features a pool table that transforms into a ping pong (or beer pong) table and there’s even a disco ball so you can relive those Saturday Night Fever moments while you enjoy a few drinks from the bar.

    Bedrooms

Located on the 2nd and 3rd floors, each bedroom is uniquely designed. Our Duplex Room is set across two floors with a bathroom located up a set of stairs. Room 3 has a corner balcony but does not have a separate shower room. Room 2 has a separate shower but does not have a balcony. All bedrooms (apart from the Duplex Room) can be made up with double-king size or twin beds.

    Large Bedrooms

Located on the 2nd and 3rd floors, all four large bedrooms are very spacious and all have balconies and large bathrooms with separate showers and bathtubs. All bedrooms can be made up as king-size or twin beds.

    Master Suites

Located on the top floor (4th floor), with magnificent views of the mountains and valley opposite, both Master Suites are very spacious with feature centrepiece fireplaces, a sitting area and mini-bar. For families who would like interconnecting rooms, there’s a secret door in the bookcase which connect the two Master Suites together.

    Bunkroom

The Bunk Room is located on the 2nd floor and can accommodate six children. It comes equipped with three sets of bunk beds, a separate shower room, a plasma screen TV with a DVD player, a games console and bean bags – perfect for some time away from the adults.

    Children at The Lodge

At The Lodge, all children under 12 will be invited to become a ‘Lodge Ranger’. We have a set welcome pack and a range of great activities available on request, including children’s DVDs, toys, games console, books, games, and treasure hunts in the evenings if they are not too tired after a long day out.

Please note The Lodge Rangers is not a fixed kid's programme and babysitting can be arranged but for an additional charge. Our staff members are happy to help organise activities, but as we are a small team we are unable to watch over children. Parental supervision is therefore required for all suggested activities.

    Accommodation for children

With space for up to six children or young adults, the dedicated bunkroom on the 2nd floor at The Lodge has three sets of bunk beds, a separate shower and toilet, a plasma screen TV with DVD player, a games console, and bean bags – perfect for getting away from the adults! If The Lodge has been hired exclusively,  children in your party are welcome to stay in the bunkroom, but per child, supplements will apply if the total number of guests in the chalet exceeds 18.

We do have some rooms that can accommodate additional rollaway beds for children or young adults - please ask our reservations team at the time of booking (supplements will apply). The maximum number of guests at any time at The Lodge is 24.

In the summer months, the bunkroom is available to book as a separate room along with at least one other room in the chalet.

    Activities

When it comes to activities for children we can tailor all the games and activities to all ages so no one feels left out. Here’s an idea of the sorts of things we can organise:

    • Treasure hunts to help familiarise the Rangers with their surroundings
    • In the summer they can play tennis, go bike riding, walks, swimming and much more
    • Storybook time in their rooms and in the lounge including some old favourites
    • Watching children’s DVDs in the lounge or in the kid’s bunk room
    • Dancing the day and night away at a kiddie disco
    • Playing games in the kid’s bunkroom on the games console
    • Sledging and snowman building competitions in The Lodge’s garden (winter only) We’ll even teach them how to make great snow angels!
    • Skiing. We can arrange the best ski instructors for all the Rangers to ensure they have a great day on the mountain (winter only)

Please note this is not a fixed programme and babysitting can be arranged but for an additional charge. Our team is happy to help organise activities, but as we are a small team we are unable to watch over children. Parental supervision is therefore required for all suggested activities.

Meals can be themed, traditional or a mix! Ask us for some ideas or give us yours. They also stock a great range of international wines, top quality spirits, international beers and excellent house champagne. All meals at The Lodge are served communally around a shared table, but it is possible to organise private dinners in some rooms on request.

All guests are encouraged to treat The Lodge like their own home and are welcome to help themselves to drinks at any time. The team can cater for all dietary requirements and are happy to make adjustments or substitutions to the day’s menu according to your tastes and preferences.

There’s no better way to enjoy a meal than to gather around the large dining table for some good food and good company. All food at The Lodge is cooked to order, and when the chalet is hired on an exclusive-use basis, they’ll plan the meals around your wishes.

In winter, rates include all drinks, breakfast and afternoon tea, as well as dinner on all but one night during the week, when you’ll be able to sample the best of Verbier’s culinary delights.

While you’re in Verbier you’ll be able to experience one of the town’s many quality restaurants on one night during your stay. They can arrange table reservations for you including at restaurants up on the mountain. Verbier town boasts all sorts of restaurants – over 40 at last count – ranging from the simple to the stylish.

    Breakfast

Breakfast is generally served from about 7.30 in the morning and in winter the lifts open at 8.45am, which should give you enough time to get kitted out for your day on the mountain. You can have it a little earlier if you like, and if you’ve got a very early start (for example if you’re leaving), they’ll organise a breakfast pack to take with you.

There will be a continental breakfast buffet including fruits, cereals, pastries, yoghurts, and more, as well as a full selection of cooked breakfast items from their à la carte menu. If there’s something you’d like that’s not on the menu just let us know.

    Lunch

Each day in winter they will book a table for lunch somewhere on the slopes, with each guest responsible for paying for his or her own meal. If you make it back to The Lodge for lunch, or if you choose to stay behind during the day, a light lunch will be served (included in the rates). If you know you’ll be back at The Lodge for lunch do try and let chalet staff know the day before.

    Afternoon Tea

In the winter season once the lifts stop running it’s time to head back to The Lodge for a relaxing spa treatment, a session in the hot tub and steam room, and definitely a slice (or two) of homemade cakes with some mulled wine – well deserved after an active day on the mountain.

    Dinner

Evenings at The Lodge typically start with some delicious canapés and an apéritif of your choice before moving on to the main event. Each morning chalet chefs will share a menu for that evening and invite guests to let us know if there’s anything on there that doesn’t take their fancy. If you’re celebrating a special occasion or just have a particular craving for something we’ll do our best to wow you and those you’re travelling with.

    Children

The Lodge has a great range of child-friendly menus. Your Lodge Rangers (that’s the children) can choose from a selection of tasty, well balanced, healthy and fun meals keeping both the parents and the Rangers happy! The Lodge does not operate a set children’s programme but has a range of activities available on request that can be tailored to suit your child. Chalet staff are happy to help organise activities, but as they are a small team they are unable to watch over children. Parental supervision is therefore required for all suggested activities.
