Ortisei Resort Details

Ortisei is an attractive market town near to Selva which it is connected to via bus. There is a cable car in Ortisei which connects to the Alpe Di Siusi ski area which offers beginners and low level intermediate skiers very gentle slopes, almost flat! But this area isn’t connected directly to the Sella Ronda circuit. By taking the Fumes cable you can connect to the Seceda area just below Selva with more challenging options available. The local slopes offer six toboggan runs, one 6km long and is ideal for families who are new to winter sports.

Beginners skiing in Ortisei

Meet with the ski school and get straight onto the nearest slopes to the village. There’s a plentiful supply of flattering blue runs in the surrounding area that will give you plenty to do once you fly the nest of the nursery slopes, located just outside the resort centre.

Intermediates skiing in Ortisei

Another Sella Ronda gem to be savoured. The lift systems ensure that you are catapulted straight into breathtaking blues and reds that surround Selva and beyond the Sella gruppe.

Mile after mile of well groomed slopes call out to be skied each day, taking you to a new restaurant every day for lunch on the sunny slopes.

Advanced skiing in Ortisei

Although the surrounding slopes of Val Gardena are generally fairly flattering reds and blues, there is a World Cup downhill course open to the public when there is not a race on. For those wanting to put some miles under their skis, head over towards Arabba where you can ski the famous Marmolada Glacier on the generally more challenging slopes of Portavescovo.

Snowboarding in Ortisei

The modern lift system is particularly boarder friendly with all the main lifts out of resort being either chairs or gondolas. The pistes on the whole are wide and above the trees, and draglifts are minimal. The Sella Ronda does have one or two flatter sections that might require a short walk between lifts.

Family skiing in Ortisei

The ski school will take children from 5 years upwards, while there is a child care service that is run locally for children from 1-11 years of age. Please call for further details.

Après ski in Ortisei

At its heart, Selva is a skiers resort with après bars everywhere, but nearby Ortisei (20 minute bus ride) is a real grown up Italian town with more than enough facilities to occupy the most die hard sightseer and shopaholic.

For après-ski the whole of the valley offers a plethora of bars to suit all tastes, from laid back Italian cafés to full on Austrian style Stubes just made for quaffing Jäegermeister.
