Why Ski in Sun Peaks?

The free bus connection to Whistler has added an extra dimension. Take advantage of the enjoyable doorstep skiing suitable for all, plus slopes which are exceptionally peaceful and with the recent opening of Mt Morrisey, unmatched off piste on deep dry BC powder

Sun Peaks has been around for 30 years but has had substantial developments since 1992, which have transformed it into a chic international resort with over 1,000 acres of skiing. The director of skiing here is the Olympic medallist Nancy Greene who you can often see out on the slopes most days. Most of the chic purpose built accommodation; shops, bars and restaurants are situated slope side or within a two or three minute walk of the slopes. Compared to most European resorts Sun Peaks isn’t huge – so we would recommend a two-centre holiday (phone or email us for more details)– perhaps linked to one of the other British Columbian resorts.

Beginners skiing in Sun Peaks

Beginners and families (‘Best family features’ was another award) will love the unbeatable convenience and the wide, boulevard pistes.

Intermediates skiing in Sun Peaks

For intermediates and better the area is the second largest in BC and there is everything from corduroy cruising to soft powder. The latest addition to the terrain – Mount Morrisey – was opened last year and has added an impressive 3,500 acres of incredible glade and tree-skiing to the resorts’ portfolio.

Advanced skiing in Sun Peaks

Together with the cat skiing around Mt Tod and some tough chutes and bowls in the ‘Top of the World’ area, the advanced skier and boarder will definitely be more than happy!

Snowboarding in Sun Peaks

Boarders can explore the whole mountain but beware of the flat greens to and from Mt Morrisey.

The skiing in Sun Peaks

Sun Peaks, together with its nearby smaller neighbours Big White and Silver Star, enjoys the unique combination of good quality powder and long hours of sunshine for which BC’s Okenagan region is justly famous.

Après ski in Sun Peaks

Sun Peaks has a Tirolean theme and although an Austrian may question this fact it is nevertheless a very attractive and appealing place to stay. There is a good choice of bars, shops and restaurants in the pedestrian centre and a top quality health club with pools, hot tub and ice-skating. Après ski can be quite busy in a few of the local bars and although it is quite quiet later, you can enjoy comedy evenings at The Stube and some excellent varied dining is available.
