Zell am Ziller is a small, pretty picturesque town in the heart of the Zillertal Valley arena which is about 10 km from Mayrhofen. The Zillertal Arena ski area, consists of the linked areas of Zell am Ziller, Gerlos, Konigsleiten & Gerlosplatte, more commonly known as Gerlos. This ski area isn’t bad in size at all and is relatively unknown to the Brits.
With a total of 166 kilometres of pistes Zell am Ziller has 69 runs and is suitable for all levels of ability. 51 lifts service the slopes at Zell am Ziller and the resort has a terrain park with half-pipe. Zell am Ziller also offers 71km of snowmaking. The nearest airport to Zell am Ziller is at Innsbruck.
Like Mayrhofen, Zell does not have a home run so you must use the gondola to go up and down to the slopes which rarely have queues.
The SUPER Zillertal lift pass covers the Zillertal area including Mayrhofen, Kaltenbach and Hintertuxer which are all easily accessible from Zell am Ziller by train or Bus.
The Après Zell am Ziller is almost zero – don’t go here if you are a party animal – however if you like to traditional and quiet – this could be your ski haven!
Though smaller and quieter than its more famous neighbour, you'll find everything you need from a selection of bars and restaurants to a range of activities including night skiing, curling, sleigh rides and swimming.
An intermediates haven, Zell am Ziller and the wider slopes of the Zellertal arena will keep you satisfied all week.
New for winter 15/16: Advanced skiers can take on the new black piste from the mid-station of the Wiesenalm, and enjoy the full 8.4km valley descent down to the resort.
