Chalet Hayley is one of the five ski in ski out catered chalets located in the "Chalets de Bruyeres" development in Les Menuires - the chalet is independent and can be booked on it's own as a full chalet or by the room but it can also be booked with one of the other chalets to provide a great location for groups of up to 75 people. The chalet is in the same terrace as Chalet Flora, Chalet Estelle, Chalet Gabrielle and Chalet Delfina.
This Les Menuires chalet is located literally right on the doorstep of the Bruyéres gondola lift. The gondola lift takes you straight up to the peak above the Meribel valley (Mont de la Chambre at 2850m) from where you can ski down into Val Thorens, Meribel or Les Menuires. The development is right on the piste, and in the centre of the village for all the amenities including a swimming pool, ski school and creche next door and nightclub 200m away. The resort shuttle bus stops outside which gives access to the whole Les Menuires area.
Chalet Hayley can accommodate up to 12 adults people for normal occupancy - if you are booking the full chalet, it is possible to add an additional two beds for children but this will reduce the available space in the living room. There are six bedrooms of various different types with different prices to reflect their sizes. All rooms are en-suite and are equipped with en-suite showers, washbasin and WC.
The comfortable living room has a space to sit and relax around the cosy fireplace or a dining area which is an ideal place for board games outside of meal times. The mini-bar offers a selection of wines, beers and soft-drinks which you can enjoy on the sun terrace in the afternoons or soak away the aches and pains of a hard days skiing in the hot-tub while taking in the great view across the Val Thorens. For those who need to keep in touch with the outside world, a free WIFI internet connection is provided in the chalet. The chalet is hosted by a chalet couple and the Les Menuires resort manager is also based in Chalet Hayley - the staff live out of the chalet in nearby accommodation but are always on hand to assist you.
In the hallway at the back of the chalets there is a ski room for each chalet with heated electric boot warmers - from this corridor you take the security coded lift which takes you up and drops you on the piste at the foot of the gondola lift - access to the pistes really couldn't be easier.
Guests can now enjoy a good nights sleep in the new Hypnos divans. Hypnos beds are world renowned as the ultimate in sleep indulgence.
The chalet layout is:
Single supplement - 150% of the adult price is payable for single occupancy of a double or twin room - only available in certain weeks
There are no discounts for under occupancy if you wish to have exclusive use. If you wish to use the two additional child beds these are charged at the per person price and are only available together with a full chalet booking.
Travel to the resort is not included - a shared transfer service is available from Grenoble, Chambery or Geneva airports direct to the chalet
Local tourist taxes "taxe de sejour" - 10.50 GBP per adult per week will be automatically added to your booking to cover the tourist tax levied by the French Government
This operator believes that the standard of the food is too important for the chalet staff to decide so they don't give their staff a budget and leave it up to them to cut corners! The menu is set at the beginning of the season and all staff are trained how to prepare every meal - you are therefore guaranteed that the food will be of the same standard, no matter which chalet you choose.
The main menu is identical wherever you go so even in one of their lower priced chalets, you won't go short of good quality food. They generally don't employ professional chefs as they prefer to train their own teams in their way to their high standards. They want to see left-overs on their tables - or you haven't had enough to eat. In today's economic climate, the cost of eating out in resort has increased but guests have no need to do this except on the chalet couple's day off. The breakfast table is loaded with as much as you can eat and when you return from skiing there is another loaded afternoon tea table so you leave well stocked up for your day's skiing and an expensive lunch is not necessary as you can eat your fill when you come back.
Breakfast has got to be one of the best in the Alps! They are famous for their fantastic traditional full English breakfast, available every day except for the chalet hosts day off - proper back bacon and traditional Irish sausages, Heinz Baked Beans imported from the UK go together with the eggs cooked to order, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried bread to ensure their guests are served the ‘real McCoy'. But of course it isn't just the cooked option - they also serve freshly baked in-house French bread (sourced from the same suppliers as the local bakeries, but baked in the chalet to ensure it is always warm and fresh!), jams and spreads, cereals, muesli, natural yoghurt, fresh fruit - and of course orange juice, tea and coffee.
When you return from skiing, afternoon tea will satisfy those hunger pangs with more freshly baked French bread and freshly home-made cake in plentiful supply - not limited to one piece per person so no need to make sure you're first back from the slopes! For those who prefer the low-carb option, apples and oranges are available in the fruit bowl. Afternoon tea is served by chalet staff so fresh supplies are readily available whenever you return and the service continues throughout.
They can cater for all types of special dietary requirements - including vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free, nut-free and child menus with many products imported from England to suit the tastes of the British kids. These menu variations are also standard throughout the company so even these are not left to chance - for some special dietary requirements there is a small supplement to cover the additional cost and complexity of the requirement. Supplements are currently:
If you have any dietary requirements which do not fall into the above "standard options" then you need to discuss these with us and we will do our best to accommodate you!
Bottled wine is served which is of a good standard - a choice of red, white and rose served throughout the evening meal. The complimentary wines for this coming season are as follows:
Chemin des Pins Sauvignon Blanc - sometimes you just want a light, crisp white to glug down easily by the glass (or bottle) - this is just the job.
Rare Vineyards Blanc de Blancs - this is uber-refreshing, tangy, lemony and fresh. Dangerously moreish and incredibly versatile.
Domaine Montplo Rouge - a lovely light-to-medium-bodied southern red, with ample aromas and flavours of blackcurrant and red berries.
Rare Vineyards Carignan - bright, juicy, soft-hearted red from the South of France made from the peppery Carignan grape.
Montgravet Rose - a lovely ‘blush’ rose from the southwest of France rammed full of fresh berry flavour and a reassuring acidity.
If you would like to enjoy wines outside of the dinner time, or you prefer beer to wine, then we can offer a comprehensive upgrade service where you can purchase from a wide choice of wines and champagnes, or try out their NEW Craft Beers product. These must be ordered by special order in advance of your holiday - please ask us for details. They also have a standard cash minibar in each chalet which is continuously stocked with Kronenburg beer and soft drinks - you can also purchase additional bottles of the standard wines above for consumption outside of the meal.
On the chalet couple's day off (one day in the middle of the week), a buffet breakfast will be available for you to help yourselves - the only day of the week when the Full English option is not available. The resort managers and other chalet staff will be around to make sure you have all you need and to clear up and set the table for afternoon tea - although your chalet couple are away for the day, the resort managers will be available if you need anything. In the evening, you can try out one of the local restaurants - They'll have their menus in the chalets and chalet staff can help you make your choice and book you a table.
Menus are not fancy and complicated - they are based on normal homecooked food but with the professional touch of their chefs and their own stringent high standards. This way they ensure that most options suit the tastes of most people and the staff are more than capable of producing perfect results every time.
