Igls (pronounced Eagles) is a small ski resort just 5km from Innsbruck and is the closest of all our ski resorts to the nearest airport. It’s almost a suburb to Innsbruck and the city trams connect to the village.

The ski area is small with just 18 km of piste on the local mountain, however twice a week a bus connects to the extended Ski World ski area that includes the Stubai Glacier and Axamer Lizum (Olympic Ski World lift pass required)

The local mountain, Patscherkofel, extends to 2200m and offers 10km of blue piste and 8km of Red only. It includes 5 drag lifts, 2 chairs and 1 gondola.

The larger area includes 295km of pisted runs, of which 92km are on blue runs, 149km on Reds and 54km of black runs. The ski range is an impressive 860m to 3150m.

Beginners skiing in the ski resort of Igls

The limited number of runs isn’t an issue for beginners, 10km of blue runs is ideal for total beginners and the progression slopes are ideal too.

Intermediates skiing in the ski resort of Igls

> We can’t image that many intermediates would consider a full week here unless you plan to purchase the ski pass for the bigger area.

Advanced skiing in the ski resort of Igls

This area is too small for advanced skiers to consider.

Snowboarding in the ski resort of Igls

Probably too many drag lifts to make this a good choice for boarders. There isn’t a snow park locally but at Stubai there is.
