Stowe ski resort information
Situated on the East Coast of America, Stowe has a 200 year old history and a clapperboard town which is full of character. It’s a popular resort and is very pretty with a great ski area too, what more could you ask for?!
The slopes are situated about 3 miles from Stowe itself where much of the more reasonably prices accommodation is situated , although there is a new ski village at the base which is growing and houses more luxury accommodation which is mainly ski in and out. A car is a good idea here although there’s a free ski shuttle but to and from the slopes.
The area has an average snowfall of over 8.5m so its pretty snow sure and a vertical drop of over 2000ft. The slopes are spread over two areas, namely Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak which are linked by a gondola at the base. This popular resort can suffer from queues at weekends however you will be skiing on really quiet slopes during the week.

The après ski in ski resort Stowe is pretty good and tends to be more lively on the weekends.
There’s a good selection of bars catering for all tastes and all ages, with rocking bars featuring live music including Jazz and Country and the Rusty Nail also has dancing. There are all types of restaurants in town with many different types of cuisine.

There’s plenty of shopping to be had in Stowe and you can also visit the Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory! You can also snowmobile if you like a little more action or dog sled too. There’s some good winter walking trails and a cinema.
Beginners skiing in the ski resort of Stowe
Head for the Nursery slopes at Spruce peak where you will learn your basics and then progress onto some nice long green runs. There are some great children’s facilities at Stowe for hassle free family skiing.
Intermediates skiing in the ski resort of Stowe
Stowe has plenty of intermediate terrain to suit the intermediate skier and Mount Mansfield offers night skiing Thursdays to Mondays.
Advanced skiing in the ski resort of Stowe
There’s plenty of double black diamond runs at the top of the Forerunner high speed quad on the main slopes which will challenge experts. The lift line run under the lifts is also a good one to head for.
Snowboarding in the ski resort of Stowe
Mount Mansfield has some great free riding areas, and there’s also a board park with 200m half pipe. The terrain here is also suitable for Beginner boarders.
