Squaw Valley ski resort information
Squaw Valley is situated at the north end of the lake at Tahoe at 1890m and can be reached by car in about an hour or more unusually via boat too from Heavenly at the southern end of the lake.
There’s a really convenient purpose built base at the village and a great variety of runs for beginners and experts. With its impressive snow fall record its bound to please. Intrawest built a car free village here a few years ago and since then they haven’t looked back.
There are six linked peaks which unusually are not listed on its map. The lifts are listed and colour coded though so more nervous skiers might like to be with a guide incase they find themselves in a run that s too hot to handle!
The gondola and cable from the village base are fast and efficient and take you up to gentle beginner slopes which are just above two stations called Gold Coast and High Camp.
Beyo0ned the beginners slopes you will find the highest peaks in the ski area. The cable car also runs in the evenings for flood lit skiing.
