Consistently voted one of the best ski areas in Colorado, and now with the new Intrawest-developed “Village at Copper”, this resort is fast becoming one of the best all round ski destinations in Colorado. The tastefully designed pedestrianised village has a wide range of shops, restaurants and cafés, and there is often music playing in the main square at the base of the mountain.

the skiing
The naturally divided ski area starts out with gentle, sloping runs on the west, and gets progressively steeper as you head east. There are several wide-open bowls for more advanced skiers and boarders. Copper also has one of the best terrain parks and pipes in Colorado. Copper really does offer everything on your doorstep, within a friendly and relaxed village atmosphere.

advanced
The resort provide free mountain tours every morning and afternoon, and the hosts will give you all the inside info about where to find the best powder. Coppers back bowls are some of the best in Colorado, and there are also some great steep and bump runs.

intermediate
There are a huge variety of runs for the intermediate skier, including wide, perfectly groomed, tree-lined runs, great for practising those carving turns. There are also easier bump runs, and ungroomed powder runs for those days when you want to push yourself.

beginner
The terrain at Copper is naturally divided so the beginners get a whole mountain side to themselves. There are several slow and family skiing zones and the excellent beginners ski school meets at Union Creek.

family
Children can attend the ski school lessons from the age of 3 years. The resort provide childcare for children from 6 weeks to 4 years.

snowboarding
Fantastic back bowls combined with a great snow record make this a good choice for snowboarders looking for fresh powder. The terrain park is one of the best in Colorado for those looking to develop their skills. Copper has teamed up with Burton to develop a Kids Method Centre dedicated to teaching kids under 12 to snowboard.

apres ski
Popular with locals at the weekends, Copper makes a big effort to entertain guests in the four main bars. There are regular events and almost always a drinks promotion to tempt you. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, and the emphasis is on fun for all ages. To be honest, if you are big into the nightlife - then this probably isn't the best place for you.
